Relocating to Denmark whilst on Maternity Leave in UK

Hoping someone might have been in a similar situation and have some advice.
I have a job in the UK but am currently on Mat leave and my OH is looking at a job in Denmark.
If we were to relocate I would need to hand in notice at my UK based job, but is there a way I would qualify for either unemployment or parental leave contributions in Denmark? Or would I need to stay in the UK until after my statutory pay ends?
I don't want to miss out on time with my baby but if we make the move it would need to make sense financially.
Thanks

The UK voted for Brexit. If you are a citizen of an EU country you would probably be entitled to benefits in Denmark but if you are British I don’t understand why you would you think that you would be entitled to any kind of benefits as you are no longer an EU citizen.

Totally depends. Is your OH a brit covered by the withdrawal agreement in Denmark? Are you married? It's very difficult for non-EU nationals to get residency in Denmark, even if they are married to an EU national. I don't think you would get benefits per se anyway, Denmark operates a system whereby you have to pay in before you can claim anything, aside from child benefit which all children get.

Thanks that's really helpful. OH is an EU citizen and we are married.
Sounds like staying in the UK until after my statutory Mat pay ends would best thing to do financially.

Once you move to Denmark with the baby, you can never leave there without your OH permission. Which if he is happy there and you are not creates quite a problem. Just something to be aware of, we all think our relationship wont break down, but if it does and you share a child with that person (see Hague Convention) you are forever trapped in another country away from your friends, family, language.

You won’t get paid anything from Denmark as your benefit gets paid out from the UK. You can ‘stay in the UK’ until your leave ends and then hand your notice in. You are allowed up to 180 days in the country (Because it’s denmark it’s time spent in the EU) over a one year period and I think it’s up to 90 days in any 6 month period. Check what the exact rules are and get your calendar out to mark out your schedule. The bonus of Brexit is that you can return back to the UK to manage your days.

Word of advice is that immigration into Sweden is a million times better/easier compared to Denmark and I would highly recommend living in Malmo if the job offered is based in Copenhagen. Once you have citizenship you can move to Denmark if you so wish. Life will be a whole lot easier.
