Hi!

I'll spare you the MH problems and jump straight to current living situation isn't working for us.....

DH went to work in Saudi about a year ago and he is now moving to Riyadh. And I'm considering moving to be with him plus our small kids.

Please let me know your experience. 🙂

I'm scared of it..... the whole..... you know.... We did live in Qatar before but it was different.

I have converted to islam, so drinking and food is totally not an issue 🤷🏻‍♀️ In here I don't wear hijab, but I'm not too fussed about that. Well.... I am a little.... I don't like feeling hot.... I get uncomfortable and dizzy. Anyways.

We will try to find an English school (primary) for them. Any advice? Any no gos? Any tips and tricks?

I feel scared and lost but going there is probably my very best option.

Thank you for your kind help and taking the time to read this

Is he Saudi?

I have lived in the ME and wouldn't touch Saudi with a barge pole. You talk as if you would be living as Saudi nationals and not an ex-pat? Will you have health / insurance / housing / schooling as part of a package?

We're english.

We'll have insurance through the company but pay for everything else ourselves 🤷🏻‍♀️

One thing to consider is the cost and quality of schooling and housing especially if your company isn't paying. Riyadh has a British school but it is almost twice as expensive as Doha's equlivilent and not as well regarded.
Compounds are very pricey but with children preferable. If you are the SAHP , living in non compound neighbourhood or apartment would be very isolating.
Saudi itself is nothing to worry about. It is modernising at a rapid pace and feels very safe and welcoming.
