I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, but any ideas gratefully received. I’ve left it too late this year to post a birthday card to Australia for a via Moonpig. So I’m looking for recommendations for flower/balloon/nice food deliveries in Perth that I can book online from the UK please. I have found things by googling but really need ideas of things you’ve used yourself. Thanks in advance.

Are you definitely too late for Moonpig? I think they send them from Australia, its always been really fast when I've used it.

mochachocochino · 24/07/2021 21:59

Make sure you're using the Moonpig Australian service - I've used before and they charge in $AUS and are pretty quick delivery wise.

For presents I use Myer or David Jones - Australian department stores. Can pay by PayPal as a lot of Australian sites won’t take UK bank cards. Also Marks and Spencer and Next have Australian sites

Yes the earliest Moonpig will do is Aug 2nd. And I’m using the AU site. I assumed today would be plenty of time. I feel really bad now. I think I may get a Myers or David Jones voucher. Thanks all.

If going for a gift card, opt for a Westfield one, they are very big shopping malls in which usually David Jones and Myer are both present along with hundreds of other shop. Whatever tiny credit they might have left after the main buy , they will find something to spend it on, be it a fun pen or even a coffee at the food court.
There is one in Perth called Carousel.

@ thank you. That’s useful to know.
I’m sure I’ve used Moonpig at this short notice before.
I was hoping they had independent companies like in the UK, that send brownies or homemade cookies but can’t find anything like that.

A lot of Australia is in full lockdown again, so that might have slowed things up with Moonpig. I’ve definitely used them at short noticw

SparklingLime · 25/07/2021 13:38

I’ve not used them myself, @Sunshineandbluesky, but found this company who have excellent Google reviews:

oxrabbit.com.au/product-category/perth/

Without doubt www.justintimegourmet.com.au/

Have used several times and quality and service has been excellent, even in warm weather!

Moonpig has been slow in Aus for quite a few months. Cards arriving at least a week after they should have. Appa it's a problem with Aus Postm

elaeocarpus · 25/07/2021 14:09

All post is taking forever in Oz; e best check before ordering anything as 'normal' delivery times are out the window . Ive been ordering email gift cards at the moment

Eleoura · 25/07/2021 14:14

I normally just phone a florist near the recipient. I have an Aussie credit card, but you could use a UK one- but there will be an exchange fee. Still works out better value IMO than using interflora and other larger chain florists.

milkytwilight · 25/07/2021 14:22

Have you tried Etsy? They have great gifts including food. You can specify Australian sellers only which should help.

Sunshineandbluesky · 25/07/2021 16:21

You’re brilliant! Thank you all for taking the time to post and the ideas. And for making me realise I’m not going mad about the Moonpig times. Of course, it makes sense now. I’m off to look at those links and crossing my fingers.

My mother is in Sydney and has had at best 2 postal deliveries a week for a few years now. Not much of a service!

I agree using a local florist can be an excellent option. I was really pleased to discover a few months ago that ours had changed hands again and was back to being great. I have often aimed to phone rather than email - if you get up in the morning 6 am would I think be 1 pm in Perth so there's a window say till 9/9:30 am when calling could be reasonable.

And you were absolutely right to not consider sending something from the UK. My mother is finding that UK post (banking and such like) is "reliably" taking 6-10 weeks to reach her this last year.
