Big yes to dairy Milk and Marmite.
Ribena
Orange marmalade
Good tea
Heinz baked beans with veggie sausages (if they still make them)
Oh yes, Shreddies. And Ready Brek (porridge from normal oats is very wholesome but somehow Not The Same)
A couple of packets of Bachelors pasta 'n' sauce
Magazines, definitely
There are a lot of other things I'd like, but they're all perishable - Tesco Finest cheesecake, potato waffles, vegetable sausages, Leicester cheese

Christmas-related:
Crackers
Selection box
Mince pies (with vegetarian mincemeat)

berolina · 09/11/2007 20:13

Oh, and some decent underwear and a nice pair of pyjamas from M&S.

I use a great site called britsuperstore, they have a lot of this stuff, plenty of Christmas goodies, and my orders have arrived in the US within a week. They will also forward orders from the M&S website. I get bio-tex from them, too, can't live without it.

chocchipcookie · 09/11/2007 22:01

But the shipping always comes to as much as the order if not more...

christie2 · 09/11/2007 22:25

Yorkie bars, prawn cocktail crisps, agree also with the cadbury's bars, penquin bars or and other UK biscuits because they are not the same over here.

LesserSpottedMother · 09/11/2007 22:26

Sainsbury's Red Label tea bags.

When in England we raid the nearest Sainsbo's and clear the shelves!

Do get some funny looks at airport check-in!!

Nightynight · 09/11/2007 22:44

Suet if they like cooking suet puddings.
Golden syrup, baked beans if not too heavy.

The colour supplements from some Sunday papers.

welliemum · 10/11/2007 01:39

John Lewis. The big multi-floored one in Cribbs Causeway.

Sigh....

But failing that, a big bag of Revels and pretty much anything child-related from The White Company.

lol Califrau! Reminds me we once sent 24 packs of Walkers Cheese & Onion crisps to a work colleague who had recently emigrated to Australia!

dilbertina · 10/11/2007 06:14

my dad in US was devastated to find it seems to be impossible to make yorkshire pudding there - maybe something to do with the flour...anyhow I have to send those little bags of "yorkshire pudding batter mix" seemingly to make his life bearable. His other things are teabags, Alpen, Cadburys Fruit & Nut and Aniseed balls. Apart from the Teabags I don't recall him ever having/wanting these things when he lived in the UK.....

Oooh, dilbertina , tell me more about those bags of yorkshire pud mix. Never heard of them and I'm having withdrawl symptoms here in Germany. Also must be the flour as mine don't work and I've bought all the types of flour on offer. I could get my sis to send me some from UK.

SofiaAmes · 10/11/2007 18:44

not true about the yorkshires....dh makes excellent yorkshire pudding in the usa!!!! but it is possible that there is a difference in the type of flours available and what they are called. Dh uses All Purpose flour in usa. But I do have to add that he also uses extra virgin olive oil instead of beef fat. Maybe that combines nicely with the American Flour!

Also, Dh goes back and forth from London to Los Angeles almost once a month and usually travels with a half empty suitcase. I'm sure if you got a box to him in London (or LA) he'd be happy to tranport things across the pond for you.

He regularly brings PG Tips (for me) and Earl Gray (for him) and clothes from Primark for the kids. And boxer shorts for ds from asda.

PrincessGoodLife · 10/11/2007 18:48

marmite
cadburys
gravy
custard
magazines
real tea
decaf tea
BACON!

LIZS · 10/11/2007 20:38

Christmas pud and instant custard

dilbertina · 12/11/2007 09:23

SofiaAmes sounds like your DH is king of yorkshire puds!

Admylin - all the supermarkets seem to do own-brand batter mixes in cooking/baking section bit, cheap as chips but since mostly just flour guess they should be! Does seem to be fairly foolproof (my dad is fairly culinarily challenged and even he manages with them!)
