In KSA- both DH and I have had two pfizer vaccinations. Extremely well though out system ; signing up via an app and appointments given very promptly.Neither of us have any health conditions or work as essential workers. Very very grateful of our host countries efficency.

Same in Romania. We're both teachers, and so were prioritised in the second round of vaccines, after the very elderly and health care staff. Very grateful to my adopted home!

We're in HK and er...... all a bit of a disaster. Government didn't buy enough early enough and we're basically now stuck with the Sinovac one which has the worst efficacy of all those so far approved. We also have some Pfizer but nowhere like enough. Getting some AZ in Q3. They just started on the over 60's and frontline workers last week (basically first tranche). I'll probably get mine never.

isthismylifenow · 04/03/2021 06:17

In SA. We have just started our programme with J&J to health care workers. I heard that we will be receiving Pfizer via Covax. It would appear that the AZ that we did receive and were not adminstered, have gone to other African countries.

It will be a while before it is rolled out to the rest of us.

Our cases have dropped a lot now though, and yesterday they released study that if you had the 501.v2 (SA variant) then it would appear that most will have immunity to the other strains too. I haven't searched it properly, just heard it on the news.

I’m in Sydney - I don’t think we’ve even started here, apart from a few quarantine and front line workers. They allege we’ll be doing a million a week soon but it doesn’t look promising so far.
Luckily we are 47 days with no cases.

TheAirbender · 05/03/2021 06:31

In the UAE, had my 2nd well over a month ago, roll out has been incredible as has their entire management of the crisis.

mamawithfive · 05/03/2021 14:11

I’m in Spain. It’s very, very slow. Still on the over 80s. Although recently started the public services like police, and teachers start this weekend in our region.
They haven’t yet decided whether foreigners who aren’t in the healthcare system will get a vaccine! So those of us who live here but have private healthcare don’t yet know if or when we will get one, but looking like late summer for the general younger population.

fallfallfall · 05/03/2021 14:26

I’m in Canada, they’ve ramped up to 70,000 plus a day nationally (at this rate it will be nearly two years to get two doses). My 88 yr old mother in Quebec did just get her 1st and is booked in May for her second dose.
The dismantling of our pharmaceutical industry years ago is haunting us. Along with political ineptitude to get vaccines.

Fuzzyspringroll · 06/03/2021 07:31

I'm in Germany. It's been a bit slow to start off with but they are gaining speed. As a teacher, I'm in priority group 2 and should be getting my appointment soon. Would be AZ, though, because they've mostly vaccinated those over 80 and have only just recently approved AZ for that age group. So there's quite a bit left over at the moment.

annabell22 · 06/03/2021 17:24

Also in UAE. Vaccines freely available via Abu Dhabi health authority (Sinopharm), and in a more restricted way the AZ and Pfizer from Dubai health authority. I had my Sinopharm first shot in Dec and second mid-Jan. However, I have not let my guard down - there are still around 3000 new cases most days.

In my bit of Spain, there's talk of giving AZ to 45 to 55 yr Olds from next month as they'll be receiving doses but not using them on the older people.
QuentinInQuarantino · 06/03/2021 17:40

Spain's rollout is on a regional basis, so it's a postcode lottery. My bit is saving second doses so it's frustratingly slow. Only just starting on the 80+. As a teacher I may be vaccinated quite soon but Dh won't be until god knows when.

I'm in Andalucía and they've started the teachers already.

I'm in the US. It varies by state, but mine is about to open up to over 50s with pre existing conditions on Monday, and then all over 50s 2 weeks later. Teachers have been able to get vaccinated for some time. They have just approved J&J here so I think things will speed up a lot.

Ninetyseventhirtyfive · 25/03/2021 05:28

Also in the US. My DH had his first shot today due to his work and they are saying in our state that all adults over 16 will be eligible from 1st may.. so I'm hopeful I'll get it soon. I've been fairly impressed with how quickly they've ramped up the numbers being vaccinated.

TanteRose · 25/03/2021 05:40

Japan - very slow process here.

started the roll-out for frontline health workers in February.

due to start general vaccinations the over-65s at the beginning of April.

then the roll-out for over-16s from end of June or July...

so the Olympics will be coming to a mainly unvaccinated country! They are saying that it might (duh!) turn into a super-spreader event Confused

HilaryThorpe · 25/03/2021 05:51

In France. Slow start but gearing up now. DH, 74 with long-term conditions, had AZ two weeks ago. My group, 70-75 with no serious conditions, becomes eligible on Saturday.

Notnowjo · 28/04/2021 06:04

We're in NZ almost no one has been vaccinated. Although most other places have greater need.

A few boarder workers and some healthcare workers excepted.

There is no publicly available information about where/when/how etc that I know of, stuff about intentions sure but no specifics.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 29/04/2021 04:36

In the US everyone over 16 is now eligible. Very easy to get an appointment - they're also running walk-in vaccine clinics. My youngest will be fully vaccinated less than a month after he turns 16.

A lot of places are starting to require that you are vaccinated which I think will change the minds of many who are hesitant.

Both my DDs will have to be vaccinated to be allowed to attend in-person university from Aug onward.

smaragda · 29/04/2021 04:59

I'm in Cyprus. We have a vaccination portal that open on certain days for certain age groups, by the end of this week they are down to 37-38 year olds. You have a choice of 4 different vaccines pfizer, astra zeneca, moderns and j+j, these are through the massive vaccination centres we have in every two. In the town I live we have 5 different vaccination centres. Most people.who are booking their appointments online take anything but astra zeneca. At the same time, anyone over 30 can now book their vaccine through their gp but only astra zeneca is available through this route. They have recently changed the time between the two doses for the astra zeneca from 3 months to two months.

PrimeraVez · 29/04/2021 05:47

Also in the UAE but as I'm pregnant, I am ineligible for vaccination, which is a bit frustrating as other countries are advising Pfizer for pregnant women (which is available here)

Both my husband and our nanny were vaccinated back in February - my company set up a vaccination hub in our office and offered vaccinations to all staff and their families.

In general, I think the UAE has handled the pandemic remarkably well.

Last night, we were told that 93% of staff at DS's school have been vaccinated and a lot of retail staff etc are wearing badges that say 'I've been vaccinated'. To be honest, I barely know of anyone know that hasn't been vaccinated unless they are ineligible for some reason (pregnant, health condition etc)

Alaimo · 29/04/2021 07:54

I'm in Northern Europe - it has been slow so far, though it is speeding up a bit. In my region they're currently vaccinating 65-69 year olds, some regions have now also started vaccinating the age group below (60-64). They keep promising it will ramp up soon and that everyone should be vaccinated by the end of the summer, but it's hard to believe considering the pace so far.

SunnyLovesCassie · 29/04/2021 10:47

I'm in Belgium and joined the waiting list for over 50s. I got a Pfizer jab last week and will get my 2nd in 3 weeks. Brussels is generally moving faster than Flanders and Wallonia as there is a poor take up rate in the older generation. 😢 Over 45s can now join the reserve list. I have an older friend in Flanders who is still waiting.

AgentProvocateur · 29/04/2021 15:12

Like @annabell22 I had my second sinopharm injection in February in UAE. Annabell22, have you taken an antibodies test to see if you need a third one?

annabell22 · 29/04/2021 17:19

@AgentProvocateur no, but my concern is that if I do get back to the UK in the summer, my immunity will have significantly decreased by then.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 20/05/2021 06:19

Where I am in Spain they've just started 55 year olds. I'm mid forties and think I'll probably get a vaccination before the end of June.
It's mostly Pfizer here.
