I am fed up with paying UK prices + postage for presents for DB, SIL and DN (and soon DN2 who is on the way) so I am looking for some good French sites. Amazon.fr is very limited, and I think I have done to death flowers from aquarelle.com

What are your favourire sites for stuff (pressies) for you, your DP and your DC? I need to find birthday presents for all three and a baby present when DN2 arrives...

TIA.

It was just beautiful here too, and the view from the top of the big wheel was amazing - even though I was a bit scared about security, it was all open and there were no seatbelts and my daughter is a real climber. She loved it, and afterwards we went to the Bonton store (but I resisted buying) and then to Le Bon Marché and then she went on the merry-go-round...

Beach is very nice though too - our nearest beach is Deauville and I hate town beaches, I only like wild ones.

So, when are you coming to Paris?????

francagoestohollywood · 08/09/2007 21:04

soon, I hope

Anna8888 · 08/09/2007 21:05

Keep me posted on the dates

stealthsquiggle · 09/09/2007 16:42

ggg I keep getting things as far as a shopping basket in Cyrillus and then thinking "how much?" and chickening out - but as you say, for a present (as opposed to me impulse-shopping for my DC) then they do have some gorgeous stuff.

The baby blankets are lovely - think they do pink, blue and beige.

As for the hair - well I now think that I look like the latest publicity photos of James Blunt, but everyone keeps telling me they love it . Anna, bump allowing, I am coming to Paris in November. We should meet up with Franca and drag her to Printemps.

Anna8888 · 09/09/2007 17:44

Yesssssssss . Do you have dates?

ggglimpopo · 09/09/2007 17:48

No, I am meant to be going to a writers thing in Cahors but the trains are a bummer and driving is apparently a cervical non non, so I may well tgv it up to Paris for the weekend instead. Dates are in my diary which is downstairs and I cant be arsed to go get it.

Any one else up for a paris meet up?

Othersideofthechannel · 09/09/2007 18:57

Possibly.
Are we talking with or without children?
(I've not done this before except on a one to one basis.)

AuldAlliance · 09/09/2007 19:47

Ditto!

francagoestohollywood · 09/09/2007 20:20

There's no need to drag really... .. I better check how much is the Exeter-Paris...

Anna8888 · 09/09/2007 20:24

Well, just to let you know, we won't be back from half-term until 8 November and my daughter is celebrating her birthday on 9 November - so can we make it from 12 November onwards? And preferably not a Wednesday?

And we can meet chez moi.

francagoestohollywood · 09/09/2007 20:29

not chez Dave (sp?)? (is it still fashonable?)

Anna8888 · 09/09/2007 20:31

God knows... it was when I was still fashionable (pre-baby) but I can barely remember when that was...

We could have everyone meet chez moi because not everyone will arrive in Paris at the same time and then we can go off and do shopping, restaurants, culture whatever...

francagoestohollywood · 09/09/2007 21:03

It was 1999 for me...

Othersideofthechannel · 10/09/2007 06:19

Shopping, restaurants, culture.... definitely without kids then!
Would this be a weekend or weekday thing?

ggglimpopo · 10/09/2007 06:30

I will be sans offspring but with bump. I do restos, shopping (sigh) and culture.....

Othersideofthechannel · 10/09/2007 07:17

Yep, definitely easier for me to travel to the big city without children in tow.... as long as I can arrange childcare.

castille · 10/09/2007 07:58

Um, can I join in? I haven't been to Paris since I came to an industry show in 1996... but I would love to see it again, not to mention meet you all and do a spot of early Christmas shopping.

please?

ggglimpopo · 10/09/2007 08:17

Of course, Castille. Where are you travelling from?

Anna8888 · 10/09/2007 09:01

I'd prefer a week day as my weekends are very busy - in fact, I'm not sure I have a single weekend free in November.

francagoestohollywood · 10/09/2007 09:42

I'm not sure whether I can come for 1 day from exeter.... (there is an early morning flight, but the return flight is in the middle of the afternoon, if I remember well)

francagoestohollywood · 10/09/2007 09:42

and how decadent would I feel to go to Paris for just a few hours??? (warming up to the idea of feeling decadent)

Othersideofthechannel · 10/09/2007 09:59

Do you think we should start a thread with Paris meet-up in the title to get some more people involved?

Shall we fix a definite date? The sooner the better as there are flights and childcare to think about. And time off work to book too!

castille · 10/09/2007 11:32

I'm in Brittany - direct TGV in 2 hours

ggglimpopo · 10/09/2007 11:33

Could we do end October?
