USA orthodonics

Will an orthodontist take on a patient who already has braces fitted in the uk? Daughter is getting braces fitted (nhs) and we will be moving half way through, do you think this would be a problem for orthodontists in the USA?

I asked my USA orthodontist the question in reverse and it seems it’s a common thing to take on patient part way through treatment.

Phew, I did think We can’t be the first to move part way through, but wondered if they were fussy about only treating patients that they put braces on!

We had trouble finding one who would take on DD with her existing brace.

We found one eventually, but it took a lot of phoning around.

I don’t think you will have a problem. My son moved from the U.K. to the USA mid-way. Also, with the economic situation, orthodontists will be needing patients. The cost of braces here is around $6000 so it is a huge expense at the best of times.

If you know roughly what area you are moving to, you could email a few to ask (and read their reviews)
