Those of us who live abroad probably experience lots of different names on a daily basis, and they may have become our new 'norm'. Could we share some of the different and exciting names that we encounter?

Just pop the country next to it

Arya- Germany
Zelie - Tanzania / East Africa

Any more breaths of fresh air?

Arya is Iranian from Game of Thrones I've never met one in Germany, which area is that a common name in?

Many of the most popular baby names in our part of Germany are very common in the UK too - Ben and Emily are very popular.

Names of babies/ children / teens here have which I hadn't heard in the UK include Korbinian and Quirin for boys ... Actually I can't think of many girls names in use for current babies and children that I hadn't heard in the UK. There are a lot of Verenas in their 20s, which I hadn't personally heard in the UK. Forms of Magdalena were very common in the early 00s - the full form less often than just Lena. Valentin for boys and Valentina for girls is incredibly common where we live - especially Valentin, absolutely loads of them from late twenties down to babies.

Hanul is very popular for girls in Korea, it means sky in "pure" Korean (many Korean words are based on Chinese, kind of the equivalent to Latin vs Anglo Saxon in English).

Most people used to use Chinese-based names but this generation tends to use pure Korean.

The Aryas I know of are in the Rhineland Pfalz and Hessen regions. Parents are ethnically / historically German as far as I am aware. But it was just so beautiful to hear amidst the floods of Noah's, Emily's and Anna's especially for me as I have never heard such names until moving to Germany.

Pia
Nevio
Levin
Eloan- France
Emil
