Is there anywhere that would actually want us?

Looking to move away. Just a pipe dream really.

I work in accountancy so I know that my qualifications are transferable in some places. DH works in mortgages but his qualification isn’t transferable (as far as in aware). Plus three kids.

There are loads of places I think that I’d like us to live but what’s the reality with other nations actually wanting us? We don’t speak other languages but willing to learn. I’d love for my kids to be raised to bilingual

Start with a list of where your qualifications are transferable to. Then people in those countries could answer.

How old are your children.

You also need to have a good long think about why you want to move and what you are hoping will be different. Often you will just end up taking the same unhappiness and problems with you, or walking into new ones, or both. There is no utopia.

I live in the United States and many people back home in the UK want to live here. When I left my job in the UK some people I worked with were so insanely jealous that I was moving here. I am on a few ex-Pat groups on Facebook and so on and we get people on a daily basis “desperate to move to
America”. But living here is not Disney holidays. Or “Friends”. Or “Dallas”. Or any other fictional portrayal. We have bills to pay, jobs to get up at 4.00 am for, politics to deal with, etc. I am happy with my life. I enjoy my job and I love my husband. He’s American, which is why we live here. I know that our happiness is not because of where we live but what we have between us. We would have that happiness wherever we lived. And if we were unhappy we would have the same unhappiness wherever we lived.

Vague post.'Whats the reality with nations wanting us?' - well first work out which nation you are willing to go to e. g Egypt? Australia? USA?

Obviously Secondly can you speak the language? If you want to go to work in Germany but don't speak German then that won't work will it?

Thirdly are you on their skills shortage list? If you are then yes they are saying they may offer a visa. So do a search on line.

I think moving can solve a lot of problems
And in some cases the grass is definitely greener.

I agree Oliversmummy. While of course there is always an element of same shit different bucket, moving can be very rejuvenating! I've moved countries a few times, it certainly shakes things up a bit and I highly recommend it!
