THINKING OF MOVING TO MALTA - ANYONE ELSE LIVING THERE

I am thinking of moving to Malta with my DH and our two year old DS. Is there any one else around who lives in Malta and could give me an honest opinion as to what it would be like to live there. I have visited the Country on a number of occasions.

I would need a full time job. I work in admin/clerical field at the moment and we would also like to buy a property.

Thanks

I am moving to Malta with my 8 year old son next May. I'm hoping to get my son into St Pauls as I heard they teach in english a lot. Does anyone know if there are any other state schools similar and would I have to find an apartment before enrolibg him in school. Thanks to anyone who can help me :)

Hi

I was wondering if I could get this thread alive again :-)
It looks like we will be moving to Malta end of August. I have 2 DS and one is going to start primary school.
We were thinking about international schools. Any recommendations?

Hi, I answered the other thread recently put up in Living Overseas, and gave basic info re the school system.

As for international schools, there's really only one that's properly recognised as such (there are a couple of others that call themselves International Schools, but they are not officially so.)

The international school here is Verdala. It has a fairly good reputation, but is about three times the cost of a 'normal' private school. Still not expensive by UK standards. Things to be aware of: although it does offer exams according to the UK, French, and US system, it is basically an American school. Also, it's term dates are in line with the UK system (so out of line with the Maltese system). I know people who have sent their children there and love it, and also some who have hated it. It does have a waiting list, and you need to get your children's names on it asap - I'd be surprised if you didn't have to wait for at least a year. On the other hand, being an international school, children do leave and move on to other countries, so there's always a random chance.

im possibly moving to Malta with a nearly 15 year old and a 17 year old, obviously worried about their ages and what affect it will have on them and wondering about the social side for these ages and if there are any groups for expat teenagers, my son loves drama and the other is football, has anybody got similar /.

We moved back in September last year, everything is straight forward but a bit of heads up there is some bureaucracy when it comes to Govt services. We used this guide to help us - www.wheresmalta.com/moving-to-malta/

Gdluck!

Hey, We are thinking about moving to Malta from Germany. My husband got a job offer. We are going to visit Malta from 17th to 20th August and maybe somebody would like to have a coffe with us to chat about the life in Malta?? I have read a lot, the biggest topics for me are accomodation (mould, cold in winter), traffic, kids in Malta, integration. We just would like to get a small impression and would be very grateful for help. It would be also interesting to talk to sb working in a hospital on Malta, as my husband would be working in a hospital. Thank you!! [email protected]
