Just curious to see what the rest of you think.

Actually spinspin, you are very right about the scientific bit. I hadn't realised how many small Australian companies are coming up with amazing technology. I always think it's the Americans with their zillion dollar budgets (although I know that there is a brain drain from Australia also going to the US for this sort of thing too, so they're probably contributing to the Americans success). They need to shout about it a bit more.

we do - especially when there are kids to be raised

not many do the 'find a husband, have a baby, get another well on the way and then return home '

Jackaroo - whats your user name in expats?

Jackaroo · 29/08/2007 21:29

Ergh, haven't got as far as signingup HM!! Bit of drama in good ol Peckham this last few days, but will in the end I'm sure. Can just about keep up with MNs though!

Just had a bump back to earth this evening. DS fell over, and brought the (folded) ironing board crashing down on himself.. it hit him across the neck etc etc.. all seemed bad enough to call an ambulance, and they agreed...although we're home again now. My big thing is, here we're 5 minutes from an A&E, what's it like when you're 60 minutes potentially? I realise I could have the same problem somewhere in the UK, just havne't experienced it here. Am still shaking.

The weather! Though could somebody bring back spring, please? I liked it better in Sydney last week . And I preferred it without miles of security fencing...

Also: the space, the scenery, the optimism and friendliness of the people, the miles of unspoilt beaches, being able to lie on a beach without banging elbows with your neighbour, the food, the food, the food...

All that's missing is an M&S food hall. For some reason I am craving one of their fresh cream trifles (gutsy).

I have just returned from a holiday to Melbourne and decided I want to move there! It is so happy, clean, friendly, cheap (compared to London), friendly, good transport, trams are cool, friendly and lovely. And I love raisin bread and timtams.

Just wanted to share that with everyone!

Everyone on the tube on my way from Heathrow looked miserable. And no one said 'G'day' or 'Good on yer' or 'She'll be alright', so inferior once again.
