Would going for interviews in my homecity be a huge step back for my life?

Hi everyone, I posted a thread a bit over a month ago unsure whether to come back to UK or keep living in Spain where I have been doing TEFL for 4 years. Since then I've actually been applying for jobs and have been offered an interview with a theatre company in my home city in the UK (while working in TEFL I volunteered at a theatre company).

I know it's only an interview and I might not get it...but what if I do? It would mean NOT returning to Spain for the foreseeable future (the job is until next summer, my thought is finish the job then do teacher training and go back to Spain). It would mean giving up my social life and friendship group - although I have a few friends here in homecity, it's not the same and has taken time to build for me to build a social life I love abroad.

On the other hand, my family is going through a really hard time with my grandparent who is hospitalised & really unwell (as in, this could be the final months of life). My mum especially has appreciated my support being home and on top of that I am having to wait 4-6 weeks to find out the results of medical tests which may or may not require action/minor surgery. A big part of my social life in Spain has been my hiking group which I have not been able to do for several months due to a chronic issue.

I am not sure whether to stay for a while, knowing I can return to Spain in the future - OR if I should go back and try really hard to find a job that I like (that isn't TEFL)?

*to clarify - my current ethos is that while I CAN return in a couple of years once I have completed my teacher training and have more earning power, my friend group will have continued/moved on without me. I know because I've done it before and moving back is never the same although I always form new friendships.

On the other hand I am genuinely very passionate about theatre and maybe doing this for 9 months will open doors in theatre in Spain too when I go back?

Not much to help but just to say I don't think it would be a backward step to come back here however it can be hard coming back to the UK after some time away.

If you don't want to come back to TEFL you'll have more options as decent jobs in EFL are like gold dust now.
