Dh has just accepted a job in Luxembourg.

We only heard the fantastic news on Friday evening. We'd been waiting to hear for five anxious weeks.

Now, we have to scramble to get schools sorted. We are making calls tomorrow.

I have four dcs, the eldest of whom is due to start Year 10 and his GCSEs in September.

I understand there is St George's International School which follows the British curriculum.

But I am also looking at the International School of Luxembourg which I believe follows the U.S. curriculum.

I don't know much about the U.S. system. Can anyone enlighten me, please? Plus would it be terribly stressful for ds1 to switch to a U.S. educational system at age 14?

Obviously, all this is dependent on whether there are spaces or not! I might call tomorrow and find there are none. Ds1 boards weekly so his staying at his current school is an option but I am really loathe for him not to come with us.

Are there any other schools I should consider? My other dcs are 12, 9 and 6.

Many thanks for any insights. Much appreciated.

for your oldest son, you could have a look at michel lucius international. I wouldn't switch him to the US curriculum at this point. Michel Lucius also have a primary school.all the best x

As I said on your previous thread the ISL and St George's are both good schools but with very different characters. I know kids at both and they are happy and thriving. Both offer the iGCSEs. Both are fee paying and are not the cheap option. I should imagine they do have places available as many people are switching their kids to the new state schools.
AFAIK all the new Lux state international schools offer the baccalaureate rather than iGCSEs although Michel Lucius might offer both. I know kids at the Michel Lucius and the Junglinster schools and they seem very happy (DE and EN sections). The schools are new so are still smoothing out a few things but so far so good AFAIK. My DS will be starting at one of the Lux state international schools in September.
A key thing to consider is where you will live in relation to the school you choose as rush hour traffic in Luxembourg is a complete and utter nightmare and public transport is patchy.

@Zimniy thank you for your insights.

I believe we have secured places at St George's.

Now, where to live!!! We need to find a rental property.
