Would you take your dog to Singapore?

DH has been offered a very good job in Singapore. We are just thinking about it at the moment.
My DC are university age so wouldn’t come with us, but I would not like to be parted from our dog.
Would you take a dog to Singapore? Would it be a nice place for him to live?

Very, very hot and humid. My dog wouldn’t have been happy in that heat - lots of fur. We actually turned down Singapore because of our pets and the quarantine laws. I couldn’t personally put my ‘fur babies’ through it, but I’m soft with animals.

I’ve read that he wouldn’t have to go into quarentine coming from the UK?

He’s a bit of a sun lover but obviously the hot humid heat would be totally different.

Feeling rather worried about it all.

Apologies, commenting before coffee - I wasn't in the UK at that time, so quarantine was definitely a thing from where I was.

OK, personally, I would consider your accommodation prospects - apartment or house with garden? Size of your dog? Age and health, etc.

I have friends there who have several large and very happy dogs, so it's definitely do-able. There seems to be lots of space for walks - not sure about off lead. And your home would have aircon.

Just get the paperwork right and there should be no problems.

I don't know about the ins and outs of taking them there but anecdotally I have a very good friend in Singapore, she has 2 and is about to get another rather gorgeous dogs in a large apartment there . I think they are labradoodles (sorry I'm rubbish at breeds).
Obviously depends on your circumstances and your dogs temperament but hers are adored and very well looked after and she manages fine there with them.

I would. We've just left a different Asian city with our dog. Not as nice as Singapore for a dog but still fine. Very hot and humid etc. You'll likely have aircon in your home so you just have to choose walk times wisely. We've turned down other countries like Saudi because of our dog but it wouldn't even cross my mind to turn down Singapore over our dog.

My dog is a small Bridlington Terrier/Whippet cross, he’s furry, but gets clipped in the summer, he’s 9, very quiet and a real couch potatoe. We live in the countryside now but he lived in London till he was 5, but we’ve always had a garden.
He used to run like a mad things but seldom runs now, he likes to plod along sniffing everything.
I just couldn’t imagine not having him with us, it’s a bit of a deal breaker for me.
Glad to hear that some of you think it could work.
We are probably going to go out to look around in the next few weeks, I have travelled in Asia but never been to Singapore, DH has been quite often with work.

If he's a clippable breed even better. I genuinely can't think of a reason why you wouldn't take him. Unless I'm missing something.

Bedlington Terrier (not Bridlington 😂)

I’m sure it makes finding accommodation a bit trickier, but it would be workable.

Don’t want to think too much about the flight part as he’s not the best traveller, but I suppose it’s only one day. He’s very attached to me so I’m sure he would be happiest living wherever I go, rather than leaving him with family in the UK.

Thank you all for the advice.
