anal I know but I have my BigW list and separated it into birthday and christmas laybys ready for my assault on the store at the crack of dawn ( okay 8am) tomorrow. Thankfully dh has the day off and I can go by myself.

Will have done some of my chrissy shopping then for nieces and friend's children - have them on layby and not have to get them until chrissy eve.

Now all I need is a good night's sleep after watching state of origin of course! Perhaps I can practise some of their duck and weave moves!

what a bugger - if we waited that long lots of things would be sold out. I know one year I went at 9.15am - store had been open since 8am - the one thing I wanted - had lots the day before - GONE - sold out!

SOmeone did say they were marked down the night before - is it worth trying tonight - probably won't get the chrissy eve layby though.

there was one more thing I wanted to get dd1 for her birthday and have debated whether to go up at about 4.30 and see if I can get it at the sale price - 50% off tonight and just buy it. Otherwise might go later tomorrow and see if there are any left.

wonders if arfishy survived last night - perhaps she is mangled under the wheels of a trolley pushed by a north shore blue rinse matron desperate to get the last dora the explorer flip out sofa

I finished work too late to go last night so had to go this morning (I can hear you sucking your breath in and thinking ooh you didn't want to do that).

I was faced with rows of empty shelves and hundreds of people scavenging through the remains and muttering 'will she still like it at Christmas.....mumble mumble'.

I did manage to get a trolley load of stuff and put the things that were sold out (slaps forehead and makes a mental note for next year to get there at 8am on day one) on raincheck, so allegedly they're going to phone me when the number 1 thing that DD will want comes in.

I'm pretty chuffed with what I did get and it's all on layby, and they said they didn't care when or how I paid as long as I coughed up by Christmas Eve. I reckon I've saved about $300 and have got nearly all the presents for all children I buy for. [does happy dance]

How did you go with the last present for DD?

PS Roffle at Dora flip out sofa! It was scary in there. All the women had demented looks in their eyes and were scanning other peoples trolleys sold out stuff.

was a bit worried - when I got to the store all the toy sale stuff was roped off with hig strips of black plastic. The sale prices were all marked and I thought about breaking through the plastic and getting one. Sanity prevailed and I managed to get someone to get it for me - was still at normal price and so just laybyed it anyway. Okay I think I did not save about 25 dollars by doing it then with all the things I laybyed but for my sanity - so worth it. Just don't have until Chrissy Eve to pay it off.

The rainchecks always come in - I rainchecked two of their presents last year and they came. They just phoned me to say they were in. I just asked if they could put it straight on layby and they did and sent the docket to me.

Glad you got some things.
