Hi all, a quick question for you. Can I use my ds uk car seat in Australia? It's fixed in with the seat belt and I have been told that I need one that's bolted to the chassis? Is this right or was the person who told me just after the use of my car seat for a year??

In NZ it's illegal to sell a carseat which is not required to be bolted in but it is legal to use one!! I brought back from UK and used one which does not require to be bolted in. I'm pretty sure this is also the case in Australia as I know people there still using older seats obtained before the law was passed. Also it is only children under 12 months that are required to use a "suitable child restraint". For children over 1 in theory they can just use a seatbelt (sounds crazy but am pretty sure that's the law!) Try emailing the RAA - go to their website www.raa.net (I think!)

illegal - it needs to be bolted onto the back dash or area in the hatch.

you can hire them here in aus - they are also not that expensive to purchase.
