Paediatricians in France

Could anyone with experience of French paediatricians let me know whether theirs is nice, friendly, and capable of getting down to a child's level?
DS goes into meltdown as soon as ours tells me I can undress him; he goes rigid, screams hysterically and won't let her do anything, so the examination takes much longer than necessary. I realise it's partly him being over-sensitive, and we have been playing at doctors a lot to try and make the whole thing less traumatic, but I do feel she's a bit cold and contributes to the problem. She never addresses him as an individual, but talks about him to me, and she snaps at him when he touches things (cuddly toys for instance) in her room, because she says they can't be washed in the machine.
Wagging her finger at him and shouting "Tu exagères, ce n'est pas nécessaire, je ne te fais même pas mal!" doesn't seem helpful either.
I like the fact that she doesn't prescribe tons of medication and is quite pro-organic, pro-alternative methods, so am swithering about whether to carry on with the nightmare or find a new one. The only other one I ever saw was not very warm either, so I was wondering if this is par for the course, or if I should hunt around for one further afield.
Any feedback welcome...!

I know this thread is pretty much over, but just felt i had to come back to this to relate a recent experience i had in France with our new (soon to be ex) peadiatrican! This was a dr who has been in office for over 40yrs, but totally scary, didn't speak once to my daughter (2) or son (11mths), and gleefully told us that when we come back for the BCG jab (tuberculosis) that we would need to be 3 people to hold the child perfectly still.......
Needless to say I shall be looking elsewhere, my daughter screemed the place down, and that was without a jab, to which said dr said possibly she would require 4 people to hold her down "vu son profil".....

Belgianchox - Not to alarm you, but did you know that most pediatricians refuse to give BCG shots to such young kids? I was talking to the headmaster of the halte garderie that DD (21 months) will start in September, and she said because pediatricians refuse to give BCG to kids this age, a letter from her saying she refuses & a negative "tubertest" would suffice.

Thought you might like to know. Were you doing the BCG shot because your kids are starting maternelle or creche?

Belgianchox - yes, deeply scary those old-style French doctors... Poor you.

We had a similar experince to yours with an pead/allergist. I as horrified as he poked at my daughter (she was only a few months old) who was covered in horrible eczema as though she was a fish on a market stall. He never spoke to her once, not even to explain to her what he was doing as he examined her.
He was rude and dismissive about me wanting to continue breastfeeding by going on an elimination diet and said it was 'selfish' of me to consider doing so.

Needless to say we never went back. Now don't bother with paed but use local GP who is fine and lovely to the kids.

Personaly I don't think that there is any need to go to a paed unless there is something seriously wrong.

Hope you find someone nice to look after your family soon.
