Tanglin Trust school - the entrance exam

Hi ,

I am currently working with a seven year old girl and tutoring her to get into Tanglin Trust School in Singapore.

Next month she takes the entrance exam but I am struggling to find much information about it.

I have reached out to the school and hope to hear soon.

From what I can find out I believe the girl will have to undertake a speaking and listening activity, a reading & comprehension activity and a writing activity.

If anybody knows any further information which could help me I would be so greatful!

Thankyou so much :)

I don't know about the exam, sorry, mine joined in Y1 and nursery.
But enrolment is down - lots of expats leaving and more schools popping up. The kids are lovely and rounded but not notably coached. I wouldn't think you would need a London prep level of tutoring to get in at all. I think it is more filtering out kids with difficulties in all honesty. Good luck

Thanks. That information is super helpful to know! Your kids did not take a exam to get in?

Interesting to hear about exists figures too.

what Durian said. and if one is accepted, sibbling priority kicks in too. they should be fine. snd for nursery/receptions there are a lot of other good options in singapore to bridge the gap till a place is available.

Thanks laptop. I believe she didn't get in first time during the first exam even with a sibling. But her English has improved alot

It is not really an exam per se. It is to make sure they are fluent in english. Waiting list used to be very long. Then it got much better 2/3 years ago as new schools opened and many expats left Singapore (financial crisis then oil price crisis). But waiting lists are getting longer again as TTS is truly a fantastic school with happy kids and great results.
I would not worry about the "exam" if she speaks good english. But she might end up on a waiting list but if she can wait (and go to another school meanwhile) then it is fine.

Hi all!
I am currently tutoring a boy for entry to Tanglin, he will be going into year 1. Is it simply his English language during conversation they will test? Thanks in advance
