Canadian spouse work visas

Hi all, I’m finding it really hard to find out an answer online but excuse my ignorance: if my husband is sponsored by a Canadian company to work out there does that mean I can automatically get a work permit as his spouse? (We are both British citizens) Thanks

It depends what visa he is on. I got a job offer through a company who were able to get a positive labor market assessment for me (saying a Canadian couldn't be found to do the job). We applied then through express entry and got two year working visas then permanent residency. My husband got a spouse visa which was unrestricted (he could work any job) linked to my visa.

Thanks so much Taytotots... I will have to check. I’m a teacher so I think a Canadian can definitely do my job! 😬

It's ok Peggy if your spouse gets a visa there isn't the requirement for you to prove a Canadian can't do your job - you'd just be awarded a visa on the basis of your spouse having one on that route. Not sure if that is the case for all types of visas though, bug certainly more lenient than the states.

Yes, depending on the NOC code you should get an open work permit as his spouse. I'll look for the link.

Yes provided you are:
"a spouse of a skilled worker in an occupation under theNational Occupational Classification (NOC)skill type 0, A or B approved to work in Canada six months or longer" you'll br eligible for an open work permit.

Do you know his skill level classification?

I have an open work visa in Canada. But, to work with children you need an enhanced visa with no restrictions and a medical check before starting/being offered any job.
