Tax query

Sunshineandgin · 15/01/2018 16:58

Currently I’m non resident in the UK and therefore not paying tax there. No taxation in the country where I am living.

I might potentially be offered a job where I am now but that job would require me to be working in the UK for 4 months.

If I were to accept it where would that leave me with regards to paying tax?

Need to work out if it’s worth it or not and hoping some others in this board might have some experience of this.

You need to check if the country you are ordinarily resident in has a double taxation avoidance agreement with the UK as I think this will affect how much of your income you will be taxed on if you are liable for tax. 91 and 183 days are the figures used for a stay but I don’t know which will apply to you. Maybe your company HR department can help.

I think if you work more than 30 days in the UK, you are classed as resident.
It will therefore depend on the taxation agreements between the countries.
I'd say you need explicit, specialised advice.

Pay for a specialist to help with this, there are many that offer consultations
