How to find a non sweet ham in the US?

Pretty trivial I know, but I can never figure out what ham to get to go with my turkey! I always end up with a sickly sweet spiral one no matter how innocuous it looks. Any recommendations my fellow expats? I just want a gammon style salty ham! TIA

Where do you live? If it is anywhere near Boston I can give you a couple of stores that do traditional ham. Otherwise I think you'd need to go to a traditional butcher that cures their own meat. I'm sure places like Chicago and NYC would have butchers who do Irish-style ham and bacon.

I don't mind the spiral ones that much - I buy one the best one I can and don't glaze it but my life is much better since I found an Irish butcher in Boston!

Fil uses an English butcher in Colorado - anything like that near you?

Nope darn it, in New Orleans and they have a very particular way of butchering down here! I was hoping I might find something in Whole Foods or similar that would be a good replica. I would love an Irish butcher nearby, Irish sausies are so much better!!

Same here up the road in Texas. Go to a proper butcher like Cleaver and Co and ask for a green (uncured, raw) ham. Then cook it yourself.

I know. I find it hard to eat supermarket bread 20 years late - it is so sweet. mind you in that 20 years I've noticed food in Ireland getting sweeter too - guess the sugar industry has to put its product somewhere.

An english friend here also told me that waitrose is online and delivers some stuff in the US - might be worth looking at.
