Voluntary NI contributions from overseas

Has / is anyone paying voluntary NI contributions if you're living outside the UK?

I was pondering it originally and then forgot. However there's a chance in the next 5-7 years we'll move back to the UK, and I'm wondering what the impact may be of not paying.

I figure state pension won't exist by the time I retire, and we won't be eligible for tax credits etc because of savings, but was wondering whether there was a detrimental impact on NHS provision.

I pay voluntary contributions. I think you need 11 years of contributions to receive 25% of the state pension if you have fewer than 11 years you get nothing - but worth checking if rules have changed. You can write to the ni contributions office and they will give you a pension forecast and details of number of years paid and voluntary contribution amount.

You can pay several years after the year concerned.

Doesn't relate to the NHS, that is residence based.

Thanks both.
