Beachside with kids

Ok so I'm on holiday in Dubai and I'm thinking how much I would love living by the sea. I don't mean UK seaside (though I wouldn't say no) I mean warm, beach cafe vibe living.
Pie in the sky perhaps but give me some dreams - where would be an amazing place to live next to the beach with children? Dubai is an option, though I do find the rest of it a bit soulless. Great for a holiday but not sure would want to stay. Which I guess means also give me some ideas of places that are beachside but also offer a bit of culture or history too! Sigh! I loved Thailand when I was there. Forgotten how much I miss warmer weather.

I would love Cape Town! And probably Sydney. Or Byron Bay - I like the hippy vibe there.
Hong Kong versus Singapore hmmm hard call. Like the idea of Singapore as SE Asia so close but Hong Kong far more interesting a place.
Yes yes to Vancouver. Also have friends there. Never been, mind. But love the idea of the mountains so close too.
Sigh. I have serious case of wanderlust. I think in reality I would miss the parents and they are getting older. Age old dilemma of whether to be selfish or not.

Ah yes I remember Noosa as a backpacker and thinking it was all very upmarket and lovely!

Sea in one direction, mountains in the other, an incredible city in the middle. What isn't there to love about Vancouver really?

Hong Kong island ! 10 mins after work or school can hike a natural park and end in the sea, and Weekends short-haul around Asian beaches.

Sentosa beach as i recall was murky water and a scenic view of tankers.

Anywhere tropical has endemic dengue.

Drive about 4 hours down to Muscat.
I would love to bring my kids up there but DH is not having any of it (I grew up there).

I have a house literally 30 meters from the sand on koh samui, very few mosquitoes due to sea breezes, gorgeous beach restaurants 10 minutes walk along the sand, stunning sunsets etc. But we rent it out as we moved out of Asia due to work..... One day .....

We spent three months on the Gold Coast and DS went to school there for a term. Beautiful amazing beaches and warm water. We loved post school beach trips. Live by the sea in the UK but it's a shingle beach and DS is not interested now. About to move to Gozo and some of the beaches there look fab - looking forward to experiencing life by the Med 😎

Bradley pooped, you rent it out short term? I'm moving to BKk soon.....available this summer? End July or early August?

I live in (non touristy) Thailand about 2 km from the coast. We usually spend Sundays chilling at one of many local beaches with friends.
As a pp said, we don't go swimming much after school (the dcs swim at school almost every day) but a few times a week we go to a restaurant on the beach for dinner / drinks and to watch the sunset.
I am incredibly grateful to live here.

I live by the beach (2 roads off but 5 mins in car) in the ME. I get up and stomp along the beach just before sunrise when its summer, and the temp is lovely pretty much all day over the winter months. And if I drive 15 mins the other way i can be out hiking in the mountains. Add to that the trips out diving with turtles and wild camping.....
There's more to the ME than malls!
