Relocating to Brighton/Hove anyone?

Have you moved to Hove from abroad? Was it easy to adapt?
Advices please :)

I'm in Hove. What do you need to know? Didn't move here from abroad but elsewhere in the country. It's lovely, good schools. Houses are expensive especially if you want a garden.

Just make sure you are not relying on a train service to London!

EleanorRigby123 Is it that bad? I would probably try to work locally and go to London once or twice a week if I don't have enough jobs (freelance). Does is make a difference to get a train from Hove or Preston Park compared to Brighton?

Is there a lot of cars everywhere?

I chose Hove because it was close enough to the job I had taken and that's where a suitable flat came up. There are many foreigners in Brighton and Hove which makes it a lovely friendly cultural town. I'm sure you will find it easy to settle here. Agree with previous poster. Trains are an absolute nightmare. If you will need to use them I would seriously think about other options. There are lots of places that are nice close by. It depends what you are looking for.

Brighton and Hove are fantastic, I'd love there in a shot if I could afford it.

But yes there are lots if cars, it's a city. Hove is effectively part of Brighton.

Do you have DC? If so you should plan where to live by the schools. For primary you'll get in on distance so you need to live as close as possible to a good school, and quality and ethos do vary quite considerably between schools.

Preston Park has good schools IIRC. No idea about Hove.

I forgot to say ... for secondary you also get in to schools on distance in most places, it I think Brighton does some kind of lottery system. Maybe someone local can advise!

Why is the train more expensive from Preston Park than from Brighton station?
