More of a wwyd - move to a new house or stay put

We are teachers in our sixth year of living overseas and about five months ago moved to a small town, after living in big cities since we left.
We moved for the lifestyle (big house with garden, can walk to work, swimming pool in compound, 5 minute drive to the beach) but in doing so, took a huge salary hit. We are still doing ok, just won't have 5* holidays for a bit. Overall, we love it here.
We just found out that the swimming pool in our compound needs repairs and the community has voted to empty it instead. The dcs (10, 5) and I want to move to a house with a pool (this is part of the lifestyle). Dh wants to stay as the convenience of walking to work and having our nanny drop off and pick up dc2 outweighs having a pool and there are pools and beaches all over the place that we can go to, we just need to drive to them.
What would you do? Any thoughts? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks so much.

Forgot to add, we live in SE Asia so the weather is beautiful and we can use the pool all year around.

Lived in SE Asia for 9 years, would not consider not having waking access to a pool, especially with kids. This would be my priority. Do you know how long the pool would be empty / repaired for?

We're in SE Asia - our pool is temporarily out of action. We said between us if it was a permanent close we'd move!

Presumably people pay a premium for the pool? If it's no longer in action then either request a rebate or move. I don't think you should move specifically for a pool though - SE Asia is crazy when it comes to traffic/commuting & living somewhere you can walk to work should def be a priority.

Thanks, they are not going to repair it. We are the only foreigners in this compound and no one else uses the pool.

I guess I should start looking around to see what is available nearby. We live in a small place, so our max commute to work would be a 10 minute drive. Dh and I both really like walking to work though, that will be hard to give up.

Is there any way you can buy/take over the pool?
