Hello, just hoping that every mumsneter living outside the UK have taken the correct steps to vote.
It's not which way anyone votes but it's using your vote that is so important.
Remember men and women have died to give us the right to vote.

That's good news amyboo.

I saw someone on a local Facebook group here (major US city) was told they'd have to add postage so hopefully mine will get through without any.

LadyCassandra · 12/06/2016 05:44

Gfplux of course you have your opinion but to state that I am betraying thousands of women is quite ridiculous.
I voted when I lived in the Uk. I now vote in the (non-EU) country I live in now. I am exercising my right to vote, I'm just not voting in the UK because I don't feel it's my right to do so.

echt · 12/06/2016 07:46

I vote because I have property in the UK, and get pensions from there, too. I'm paid up on NI so I can return for health when I want to. I hold an EU passport.

So yes, it is in my interests to vote and I feel entitled to do so.

I have to vote in my country of residence as it's illegal not to.

My dad is my postal proxy and on the case.

I feel appalled that the 15+ y expats are denied votes.I've been an expat for longer than that but with a uk work break so keep my rights....it's nuts. My family most definitely has a vested interest in the UK's future.

There are good reasons to vote on both sides depending on perspective (but am firmly IN myself) and this will affect everyone and their future generations.

I do believe that if we are fortunate enough to have the right to vote then we should do so.

Have been an expat for over 20 years and want to vote as plan on going back and DS wants to study in the UK.

Bananalanacake · 12/06/2016 14:48

I am making a trip to the UK especially to vote in person (and catch up with all my friends)

scaryteacher · 13/06/2016 00:18

My Mum has the postal proxies for dh and I and knows precisely where to put the cross for our votes.

Isthiscorrect · 13/06/2016 21:37

Still don't have mine 😟 So I guess even if it does arrive I won't get it back in time. Very disappointing.

scaryteacher · 15/06/2016 22:31

Isthiscorrect ds's postal vote turned up at the back end of May, and I took it back to the UK and dropped it off to him as we were passing en route to see friends.

My postal vote arrived yesterday, far too late to get it back for the 23rd.

However, the borough were hot on the emails on Monday urging us to get a proxy vote, which we did.

lifeisunjust · 16/06/2016 15:17

Mine was posted back as written on the envelope with no additional stamps. It arrived 2 days after posting. I checked with the voting office of where I am registered by phoning up for confirmation.

Isthiscorrect · 17/06/2016 12:48

That was fortunate scary. Still nothing for me though, so I guess no vote for me 😧

luckybmum · 20/06/2016 21:49

If you can get there in person you can apparently still vote - the electoral service at my local authority have told me they can reissue a postal ballot paper as long as I get there before 5 pm on 23 June.
