Hi there, I lived in Lethbridge one summer quite a few years ago now. I remember it as being very easy to find my way around there. It's not very far from one of the national parks that straddles the Canada/Montana border (can't for the life of me remember what it's called!)which is absolutely stunning. Also not very far from Glacier National Park and Banff is just a little past Calgary (yes I am keen on outdoorsy things!). Can't fill you in on what the situation is like for lo's re: schools, nurseries and whatnot as I was pre-ds then. I've blocked a lot of that summer out as I was in a bad relationship there...

Lethbridge is surrounded by prairie but like I said earlier the mountains aren't very far away. It is quite stunning, if you've been in the UK all your life you will be astounded by the open space. They don't call it Big Sky Country for nothing! Hope you enjoy your trip out there, I am Canadian myself and can't wait to go back (we're going back to BC). Good luck!

P.S., if you're going next month bring warm clothes as prairie winters can pack a bite, even this early!

It does sound nice, we too very into outdoors, skiing, walking, climbing etc so that really appeals. BC was our preferred option but not to be so hoping Lethbridge offers what we want. Living in Scottish highlands at mo so maybe similar but on a bigger scale with bit more to do????

Hi! I live in Canada (Nova Scotia, other end altogether) and Alberta is already getting snow! Calgary is the "boom" area economically right now so I'm not sure if that means it's hard to get good housing, day care (creche) places etc. I'm sure your dh's company will sort that out anyway for you. Good luck!

Have only been to BC (and Alberta for a few days) 3 times to visit BIL who was studying there, and have to say Canada is the most child-friendly place I have ever visited (and I've been to quite a few places with kids).
Hope you have a great time.

Hi Robot, my dp, dd and I are in the process of emigrating to Canada and are looking mainly at Alberta. If you need info I recommend British Expats here . There is a Canadian immigration section and a Canadian lifestyle section. There are some really nice people on there (and some complete a-holes but ignore them) who are really helpful. I am Sinope over there so say hi if you see me.

Canada was home until 6 years ago and our first two were born in Alberta..

When you come back with questions I can get the answers. PIL still live just North of Calgary.

I have just moved back from near sunny Medicine Hat which is about an hour and a half from Lethbridge. We were there for 18 months and loved Canada. We would back tomorrow if we could. We spent alot of time in thr Rockies and Canmore was our favourite place.
