just following on from not get about UK thread - curious to see Aus from another perspective.

Dh finds the idea of picking an ordinary child's name and then imagining the wackiest spelling you can just so your child can be different.

not like those sandgropers who are 2 hours behind.

I looked at the time of your post and saw 1. (something) and assumed it was 1am where you are. That's why I was so surprised, didn;t think you werethat far ahead. Then I realised after I posted that it was 1PM, UK time!!! I do think I should go to bed!

(Who are the sandgropers?)

The ham situation is SHOCKING
I go to my nice (NZ) butchers. I have also heard a rumour that there is an English farmer in the Deep South of WA who rears free range pigs and cures the ham in a Yorkshire Fashion. If only it wasn't 7 frickin hours drive away.
When I went home to see my parents there was a field of Gloucestor Old Spots frolicking around up the road, how I would love to have one of those babies in my freezer.

I tell you one main thing I cannot get over, is how DEATHLY QUIET it is on the streets after 8pm, I know I live in deepest darkers Burbsville but what the F is everyone doing in their Home Theartre rooms and Al Fresco Kitchebs of an evening and, more importantly, why am I not invited? Hmmm?????

And in two years no bastard has invited me for a jaunt on their boat, I am most put out I can tell you.

I hate having to have the inside of my bags, stroller etc inspected when I exit a store....as if anyone would risk pinching any of the old tat they sell in these stores...

suzywong · 19/10/2006 05:28

Kmart?
yeah, I know what you mean, full of old tat. I'm a Target woman myself

tanyac · 19/10/2006 05:42

yep, Kmart and a few similar others.....makes me cringe

humpydumpy · 19/10/2006 08:33

Oh yeah find having my bag checked in stores quite insulting, I am sure they just want a nosey.

And guess what suzy - I was invited out on someones boat the other week. Spent the weekend at their weekend place (ie. a shack) and went out on their new boat. Was fab, saw dolphins while drinking wine.

suzywong · 19/10/2006 08:50

rub my nose in it why doncha?
I 'm very happy for you, really

when are we going to have a meet up?

I tell you what though, the burgers really ARE better at Hungry Jack's

eidsvold · 19/10/2006 09:01

oh yeh - hungry's are better.... although my cravings are for vege delight subs from subway on parmesan and oregano bread, swiss cheese, salad minus olives and jalepenos and thousand island sauce.

Yum - crave crave crave - at least they are healthy

Hmmmm Hungry Jacks you have got me drooling now. Am currently trying to shift the extra 6 kilos I have put on since arriving in this country, me thinks I have indulged in the chips and dips alittle too much.

A meet up would be great. At the mo I am working 3 days a week (going down to 1.5 soon yipee) but have wed and fri off and am always looking for someone to bore with my company. Any ideas.

humpydumpy · 19/10/2006 09:33

Arghhh - can I add insects to the list, there are currently thousands of flying ants which have suddenly appeared outside. I literally can't stand on the floor there are that many. Have shut myself in the office at work and am scared to go out (wimp I know). Thing is am desperate to go to the loo and need to leave the safety of the office to get there.

humpydumpy · 19/10/2006 09:34

Oh no they are coming in under the door. Am starting to itch.

Flamebat · 19/10/2006 10:00

Having just read the whole thread and never been... I wanna come see Australia!!!!

mymama · 19/10/2006 11:48

come on over Flamebat the more the merrier.

mymama · 28/10/2006 09:17

Was at an outdoor picnic today and thought of another great "ozism" that foreigners don't get. pmsl when a UK couple were invited to a bbq and asked to "bring a plate". They did, literally - brought one plate each but with nothing on it .
