My eldest is 8 and has a very low percentile working memory. She is currently at an excellent private school with 12 in her class and is thriving. However, that means to us, that she is reaching SATS targets for her age, not exceeding them. She is not special needs but still needs some additional help.

Which schools should we be looking at in Singapore? Anyone in a similar position?

I know I recommend it a lot, but I would say Dover court. My dd's went there (my eldest for 5 years) and we loved the nurturing side of the school. Although your dd doesn't need it, there is a very strong SN stream with onsite educational psychologists, occupational therapists, speech, physio therapists etc. I do feel though that with this sn culture in the school, teachers are very aware of individual needs and the huge range of ability that passes through their classrooms. My dds didn't need any extra help but I loved that the school integrated those that needed more support into the mainstream. If anyone can understand your dds situation and help her get the best out of school, I would say it's Dover court.

Definitely Dover court.

Where we live now, the Nordanglia school is not highly regarded at all. Do you think the reputation of Nordanglia varies from country to country?

I think it varies. Dover court was taken over by nord Anglia last year and I know that parents are generally impressed by the changes implemented since then.

My dcs are in a nord Anglia school in the USA, it was taken over last summer too. It's an excellent school with the best results of all the international schools in our huge city.. Having said that, in both cases the head teacher and staff remain from before. I don't know how much the academic quality of a school is influenced by the company that owns it.....

Thank you butterflies. Are there any singapore forums that you know of, which could be helpful to a newbie?

Look for expat groups on facebook, there are several where people share information and recommendations. There is a high turnover of expats in singapore, most people stay max 2 years as its so expensive, companies don't shell out more than they have to. This means there are always people on fb looking for advice on moving to singapore!
