I just moved from Canada to UK for 1 year (to study) and also did the same a few years ago for a year. Just wondering why you are going for a few months, to check things out. I would think it through first. It is really is not as hard as one would think to move abroad but it is alot of work. You need to be clear why you want to go and nto just react to the job loss. Why not try a month long holiday in boston (a great city by the way). Do you have any specific questions about moving, I can try to answer. For example, yo uwould need to plan for the house. We used a property managment company to rent out or house so we used the rent to pay on our mortgage. Boston is very expensive to live and buy property. Other parts are better. For example, we met a woman in Ottawa Canada who ahd just moved from near Bath UK. She sold her house in the UK for 300,000 Pounds, bought a house in ottawa (much larger and newer house with a pool and big backyard) and had over300,000 pounds left over. (300,000 pounds would be worth 650,000 in canadian dollars, so she paid 350,000 canadian dollars and a big junk left over. hope this helps.
