Hello parents,
My son is 7 years old.Next year we will move to Brussels.My husband is working at the moment in Jette,Brussels. We want to enrol our son in a primary school in Jette.I read some reviews about the schools.What is your opinion;??w easy is to find a place there;Where else should i look for an appartement,school not far from Jette;
Thank you in advance.

As you have the luxury of applying a year in advance, I'd start with looking at the location of your husband's work and the public transport options to get there and housing available, all in combination with targetting a small area of schools.

Here is the public transport map.

Here is where to look for housing.

Now if you pm me your husband's address, your housing budget and type of housing and number of bedrooms, I could suggest where to combine all these factors and look for housing and schools. Without that information, cannot help you further.

You're not limited by commune.

You ideally need to pinpoint a relatively small area to live where there are several choices of schools within walking or public transport distance. If your husband can move into your housing now, I'd do it, to give you an address which sometimes helps with priorities on waiting lists for schools.

You won't find so many upwardly mobile international families in the area, but the number are increasing. Jette/Ganshoren/Berchem-Ste-Agathe are in most part nice communes to live in and depending on where you live, can have good connectiions to the centre of Brussels.

And here is a crude way of measuring how middle class each school is, you won't really be able to understand it but if you pm me with husband's work location and your budget, I can tell you which ones are the better schools.

Ganshoren
Ecole primaire Notre Dame de la Sagesse
Ecole primaire du Sacre-Coeur de Ganshoren

Laeken
Ecole Regina Pacis

Berchem-Ste-Agathe
Institut St Albert
Ecole primaire Berchem-Ste-Agathe - 3 different school locations

Jette
Ecole primaire St Pierre de Jette
Ecole primaire du Sacre-Coeur de Jette
Ecole Aurore
Ecole Pres Verts
Ecole primaire communale Dieleghem

That is 12 primaires and they cover a large area in 4 communes of Jette and nearby and they are all in rather middle class areas. I'd be happy with any of these schools, now you just need to find out how near work / convenient they are on public transport for work, along with how much housing is currently fitting your criteria on immoweb. There is less rental housing in this area, so housing is going to be just as important as choosing schools.
