Paris - 15th or 17th

Hi

I know there are a few Paris threads going on at the moment so sorry to start another but I have a specific question. We are a British family moving over to Paris in the summer with a 1 and a 3 year old. We have pre school options in either the 15th or the 8/17th. Imagine we like the schools equally where should we live? I would love it if you could contrast the 2 areas. When I say 15th I am thinking about the part near the 7th and I guess the 17th would be the bit near Monceau. It would also be great to get an idea of what a decent 3 bed place would cost rental wise in these areas.

Thanks a lot

I like the 17th way better than the 15th - nicer architecture, wider pavements, better infrastructure. 17th is more international and Jewish, 15th more trad and Catholic (don't know if that makes a difference to you).

Thanks. Are prices similar?

Prices are probably a bit higher in the 17th - the accommodation is nicer! I doubt there is much in it for similar apartments. You probably need to budget about EUR 4000.

Agree with Bonsoir, the 17th is far lovelier than the 15e and the rental price will reflect that but not by a huge margin.

17th. 15th is dull.

GreatAuntDinah · 16/06/2014 10:34

I disagree. Some bits of the fifteenth are very nice, some bits of the 17th are dullsville. Where will you be working?

GreatAuntDinah · 16/06/2014 10:35

^having said that, the bit of the 15th by the 7th is indeed dull.
