Potentially moving to the US

DH and I are thinking of moving to the US (Connecticut) with our two DSs (2 years and 8 months). DH is American and so we would be near his parents who could help with the children, and the schools/neighbourhood etc are all really nice. We currently live in London, in a not great area, and are fed up with the price of anything and everything, the weather, education system etc etc! I guess my real fears are being lonely and sticking out like a sore thumb with my British accent! Does anyone have any thoughts/advice?

They will love your British accent, don't worry for that. People in general is very friendly.

I am American and live outside of London. I agree with your sentiments re: cost of living. Yes, Americans are generally very fond of the British. I wouldn't worry about people holding it against you. (apart maybe from tea party references in Boston )

Connecticut? They'll love you!!!

Whereabouts? I ask as bits of lower Fairfield County are just as expensive as London!

Hi 2ManyPimms - yes, oddly enough we would be looking at Fairfield as this is where the PILs live! Have been looking on Connecticut real estate websites and feel quite faint at some of the prices!! Are there some bits of Fairfield that you would recommend more than others?
