Hi,

I'm looking for some feedback/ experiences about the Euopean school of Mol. We have two primary school aged children (British/Dutch) and I'm looking for a primarily British primary school system, combined with Dutch.

Thanks

Firstly excuse the typos that are bound to be in this reply as am on phone my youngest has been through the ES system and it is very hard. The nursery and primary schools were great but the secondary is tough. They end up with a great education and the ability to work on their own but in my opinion it comes at a cost. All the children who graduate speak at least three languages fluently ( as well as a native speaker)lots of them speak four . It is a broad curriculum and you have to study three sciences up to age 16. if you were to ask me if I would make the same choice again I am not sure I would . pm me if you would like more info.

Hi Carlien

Are your children eligible for European Schools? If so, you will have to enrol the children into either the Dutch or English section, this will be their first language (L1). At primary school they will study a second language. This must be either English, German or French. So, if you enter them in the English section they won't be able to learn Dutch until they start in the secondary school.

Just as an aside, there are some issues in the Brussels schools with the Dutch accent the children acquire. Apparently it's not an authentic 'Dutch' accent!
