I've arrived home in good old Blighty, after being in Perth 2 years.
It was sad to say good bye to our friends and my lovely sil, but so glad to see my family, and friends here.

We're living at my fils until we can get some furniture sorted, even though we have stuff coming in a 40 foot container. It was only 3/4's full Confused after they said our quota will be near full.

We were glad to give up the rental, as it was stupidly huge. We went to our house, and it looked small in comparison.

Dh has had an interview for a job, he has another on Friday. He isn't too pleased to be home, but I'm doing cartwheels Grin

Welcome home! At last!! How is your leg??!

Longdistance · 10/10/2013 19:57

Thanks :)

I have a little limp. But need to see a physio here, to try and sort that out. Don't have any pain, but my leg was swollen like balloon on the flights. It looked huge.

Glad to be home with lots of support. My mum and dad, mil and fil have had the girls lots, so we can sort stuff out like car, furniture, job interviews etc.

Dd1 will start her pre school in November in the next term. I mentioned nursery, and she was very excited.

All the best, Longdistance. Smile

SavoyCabbage · 11/10/2013 07:17

That's great long distance. I'm really pleased for you.

We are going back in December but my Australian dh has been refused a visa as he has 'no significant ties to the uk' we are appealing but can't see it being successful as the Home Office have already looked into it and said that the decision was correct. So we will be deciding if I come back here of go for a spousal visa, which means being apart for a year pretty much!

The song "I should be so lucky...lucky, lucky, lucky " is going through my head now. Envy
Glad you are back where you belong. Grin

Cheers guys.

Savoy, I hope your dh can join you soon, as this sounds crazy of the HO.

Yes, I do feel lucky. Did a very MNetty thing, and did a shop at Lidl. I nearly passed out at how cheap it was lol.

Hello Guys :)

Well, it's fabulous here. We're back in our house, the container arrived on Monday with all our crap stuff. Hurrah! Girls are loving having their stuff back.

I think dh has been around me too long. He's now got a really good job, after many interviews, but mainly to do with him being fussy about what he wanted job wise Hmm I need him to piss off to work as he's getting under my feet at home. Being together 24/7 is a mare, so can't wait for him to go to work.

My dp's love having the girls around, and we've planned Xmas already with family at ours. Woohoo, a cold Xmas without turning up the aircon full blast for effect.

Although, I am a bit Envy about 36'c heat in Perth, but not missing much else.

Anyone else joining me soon? Come on, you know you wanna...

I'm glad you're happy to be home, enjoy your chilly Xmas! A friend of mine is leaving Perth for Essex in a few weeks, she is gutted to leave but her husband can't wait. It's not for everyone!

I'm lucky we all love it, it'll be a cold day in hell before I go back! 32 degrees in the back garden, lovely! Grin

Me, I had dd 8 in tears today wanting to go home, and not even a bad word about here for oh, almost a week now! I have spent the night pricing flights/containers and making plans, we really cannot afford to live here without both of us working f/t and kids in breakfast/after school clubs.
We both worked p/t in UK and managed our childcare around that.
But the main reason is I want them to grow up around their family.

Just a pity it took us to the other side of the world to realise that, and the £40 000 hit we will never get back.

Longdistance · 28/11/2013 22:49

Aw giggly, I really want my dd's growing up around our families too. I'm not regretting being back. It cost around $12k for the container, but the service was mediocre. Nothing special at all.

So looking forward to Xmas. Going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde park at the weekend, and so looking forward to it, and dh going back to work, as he's being a right pita.

I did find it really expensive to live in Oz. I think the time has gone when the likes of my sil's who moved over, don't have a problem with the price of stuff. They moved over 15 and 10 years ago, when it was more affordable for housing etc.
