What british toiletries and non prescription meds can you not do without and how do you get them?

That's it really. When I'm over in the UK I always go a bit mad in Boots stocking up on the things I prefer and can save money on, for example Karvol, St Ives facial scrub, vaseline essential moisture, Kalms etc etc etc. I know I can probably make do with similar but was wondering if there was a site that sold and delivered overseas.

We've just had some stuff delivered from eChemist.co.uk and if they deliver here I'd guess they'd deliver to most places

Paracetamol capsules (here they only do tablets and they give me stomach upsets), sinutab, sudafed for kids, calpol, calprofen (better than the local stuff, plus I like to use a spoon rather than syringe with nurofen syrup), cocodamol ( never really use it but I like to have it just in case, here prescription only), pholcodeine (again have only used it a few times in my life, but impossible to get hold of it here), TCP (much better than local stuff, plus you can use it for sore throat), anti-mosquito stuff with icardin rather than DEET, benadryl, forgot the name but spray for sore throat for kids, colgate alcohol free fluoriguard orcwhatever it is called, and more but forgotten what it was .... I use Chemist direct and chemists via Amazon ... I am a good customer as you can see, I like to have a stocked medicine cupboard.

Olbas oil! I've got some coming in the shipping container as we speak

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 13/09/2013 03:34

Olbas oil here too! You can get some imposter concoction but its not the same. And Tyrozets for the inevitable sore throat I'll get come winter. Wiped out the branch of Boots I visited of those. I also picked up some Virasoothe in case DS picks up chicken pox - friends have raved about it but you can't get it here.

Toiletries wise I stock up on Aussie 3 Minute Deep Conditioner as the stuff here just isn't the same. I also pick up some La Roche Possay as the range I can get here isn't as big.

I've had a look at eChemist and it looks pretty good - thanks for the tip thanksamillion.

I use echemist.co.UK, free delivery for orders over £30 and under 2kg

I get the Wellkids children's vitamin syrup as equivalents here in NZ are outrageously expensive, also good old E45 moisturizer, Lansinoh breast pads as the brands here are expensive, gigantic pads, no sticky bits on the back, bunch up so I look like a have lumpy blobs, or a loathsome combination of all the above.

When I run out of what I have I will order Cowshed oils as are fab! Just ordered a few things and topped up to get free delivery with a cheap mascara, again stuff that in Boots you'd buy without blinking can be v expensive here. What I would give for an hour in Boots! All those three for two deals! The range, the choice!

Oh and those teepee tooth flossing/interdental brushes, take out a mortgage buying them here!

chloeb2002 · 13/09/2013 03:48

Metainium nappy rash cream.. Random ,. But I either get friends t mail it over or I spend huge prices on it from eBay!

reggiebean · 13/09/2013 05:17

When I was in the states: paracetamol, spray deodorant, Vaseline lip tins, sudocrem, codeine/ aspirin.

purplepuppet · 13/09/2013 10:51

Thanks for the links, very very useful, ordering already! Coughs and colds already starting here with the kids so you can guess whats top of the list.... you just know where you are with olbas and beechams etc. E45 and flexitol, thanks for the reminder.

Frizz Ease serum - if I run out I look like Sideshow Bob (DD says I look like him anyway) - rely on friends to bring over and stock up whenever in UK. You can buy it here but it costs four times more and even I can't justify that expense
