Anyone know how long a container takes from Perth?

We're going back to the Uk, hurrah! So, the company my dh works for is paying for our container back, and flights.

Just wanted to know what people's experiences were of shipping a container the other way. It took about 10 weeks coming to Perth, which sounds ages.

We don't have a date to go back yet, but the company has to oblige, and it used to be 28 days to return on a 457 visa, but it's 90 days to find a new job, or go home. Luckily dh, wants to go home, as its left a bitter taste in his mouth with the way his company is treating him.

Ifvtheeezno job for him to go to in the uk they'll have to pay for everything and pay him redundancy surely ?
He needs that clarified and preferably in writing.

That's what he's fighting at the minute. We knew that if things didn't work out in the first year, we'd be liable for the flight and container costs.

I just think its cheeky for them to drag our worldly shit belongings here, and then not pay for it on the return. They broke the contract, whether he goes back to working for them, or takes the redundancy package and works else where.

Dh got an email earlier saying, they'll see what they can do, but can't promise anything.

So bloody stressful. Arghhhhh!

Its quite stressful at the minute, but my dh isn't giving up. I think the next email he may get is 'fuck off', as he's really putting his case across.

At least you could sell stuff on gumtree long, I have sold some furniture I brought from UK and made a profit here.it is my plan to offload even more as will be cheaper when we eventually get back home. Good luck.

Giggly. I've done one car boot, and will do another, and sold loads of baby stuff I do not need including buggies. So far I've made $600, and have more stuff to sell.

It's a double Target one. Someone is picking it up on Monday. They've been fighting over it. Some arsehole from Armadale was far too busy asking questions, when someone else text saying they'd have it. Though I thought the person asking the question on email was the same as the one texting me. I'm gonna burn the fucking thing on my lawn if more people are gonna be a bunch of tits!!!

They're snapping my stuff up. Must be asking too little for them. Most people have said my stuff's nice, or gorgeous, or lovely and just taking it no questions asked. Just weird. It's nearly all gone and I put it on all on Monday evening. They text at funny times too.

I'd consider your car if it was on the other side of the country!

Not bad. Went out on a date with dh. Ruined by how intense the conversation was. He really got on my nerves. Didn't fancy any action after that, he put me right off lol.

All about, where I'm gonna work (we don't even really have a date yet so really can't apply for any jobs til we get back), what school and nursery both dd's will go to. Even criticizing what car I'm gonna buy. A lot of it is none of his business, well apart from the schooling.

Sorry I don't have a nice single buggy for you Mos. I need my single as although dd2 is 2, she does throw herself on the ground when she's tired. She did this today at Hillary's. I had it carry her in the end with my dodgy limping leg.

On the pls side, sil is gonna carry on selling out stuff on Gumtree if its not sold as she has the room for some of our stuff.

Roll on the 6th when we jet off to Phuket, and hopefully our container will be done by then :)

My container is being packed on the 6th too! Maybe they'll pass on the sea and wave to each other.

We've just said goodbye to the staff and children at both dd's nursery. I got all teary eyed, as the girls have had a lot of fun. My oldest had been there since we arrived in the area nearly two years ago, so a lot of memories for her and I. The youngest had only been there since April when I broke my leg, and she settled in amazingly. And loved it there. The staff loved having our girls, even though they're little devils at home are super stars for other people.

Not much luck selling my car, but have sold nearly all my baby gear. Don't really want to return it to the dealership as I tried selling to them a few months back must be psychic and they didn't offer me much.

Given our notice to the rental company, and they wanted this and that fee for re advertising the property, then got an email saying that the owner wants to move in. I very much doubt it, as he never lived here in the first place, and it was an investment property.

So when are you off long? Bet you can't wait, does this mean things are better with dh .

We're off on holiday next Friday, and when we get back, we'll be saying our Good Byes, so it'll be around the end of September, so a month from now. Yay!!!

Just an update...

Dh has had the company from the Uk calling him about a position. Dh wants to take the money and run, as he's fed up with them. I want him to take the job, cos the I think they'll pay for the container.

That's worth around $12,000, without insurance alone. His redundancy package is really good, but I'm stressing that he won't have a job when we get back, or might find it difficult in his profession.

I'm looking for work myself, but won't apply for anything til we get back as really don't have a definate date of returning yet, and most jobs state immediate start.

We've thrown so much crap out, knowing that we may be paying for the container.

I'm just so busy with everything going on, and really confused at to why my dh wants to leave, when they have a position for him in the Uk. Just don't know whether I'm coming or going now
