Recommended reading in English for entirely French educated DS1

Have posted this in "Primary Education" too so apologies for any duplication.
Would really appreciate some suggestions for DS1 - he's 11, & has always been at full time French school - though we've tried hard to encourage his English reading and writing, and I would say he's about parallel with UK educated boys of a similar age in terms of ability - not beyond. He's recently finished the Harry Potter series which he loved with a passion, and I've started him with the Hunger Games trilogy - first one went down well but we're struggling a bit with number 2.
I'm really keen to hold his interest, but not frighten him with anything too difficult, any suggestions would be hugely appreciated - I'm very out of touch! tia

What about the Percy Jackson series? My Dds love them. More age appropriate than Hunger Games IMO.

Would he like the young Bond or Sherlock series? Dd enjoyed Percy Jackson.

Another vote for Percy Jackson, plus I think there may be another series or two by the same author.

Maybe the Northern Lights trilogy by Philip Pullman?

My DS is a bit younger at 9 but he loves reading, and he and his friends also enjoy the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

I think there is another series too, will ask him tomorrow.

How about books which you know you can also refer to in the French if helpful? Camu's L'Etranger for instance (and perhaps other, less heavy stuff).

DS is just 10, also educated entirely in France and has just loved the Wimpy Kid series. He also really liked Holes by Louis Sachar and the Fire Within by Chris D'Lacey.

My ds is the same, and until last year was a really unwilling reader. But thanks to the Wimpy Kid series, he discovered that it was actually a very good thing, and he read all the David Walliams books, Percy Jackson and is now reading the Alex Ryder books. He also loves the Mysterious Benedict society.

I would second the Alex Ryder books. I have lost track of how many of the series Ds (10 and educated 90% in French) has read.

Also, I bought him Georges Secret Key to the Universe by Stephen Hawking and he liked it enough to want to buy the next in the series, George and the Big Bang, out of his own money!

Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events was another that he read in English. We could get more of the series in French from the library but he likes to continue reading any given series in the same language that he set off in.

How about the "Warriors" series - it's about cats. DD1 and her mates have been glued to the series for years. Also a series about bears by the same writers.
