If you could live anywhere in the world. Where would you live?

I would like to move to somewhere like the Gatineau in Canada, or maybe Denmark. I currently live in CT, USA, but moving to Copenhagen soon, so the dream might happen, although I'm guessing the grass is always greener. I have a friend who lives in Santiago in Chile and she says it's an amazing place to live, and I've fantasised about moving somewhere similar a few times.

My DH is very different, he would like to live in either Dubai, or Brittany in France where he lived for two years, or Cape Town.

Is your place perfect, or do you still dream about other places?

I need to travel more, right now i can only think of the usual suspects and am probably missing out on my dream location because I don't know it exists.

I have lived in about 10 different towns/ cities in the UK & US. I used to live in CT (New Haven).

My perfect place would be within 10 miles of where I am now. I'm in Dorset, on the coast. We can walk to the beach and the New Forest is about a 15 minute drive. There is so much to do round here, I think it's the perfect place to live.

Cape Town is perfect... For a holiday just don't look at the shacks in the townships, the huge inequality, the sky-high cost of living or the crime

Marylebone, in central London. Or West Hollywood.

East Village NYC or Barcelona

I live just outside WeHo now, it is pretty cool

Canada or Miami.

Ronda, Mallorcan hills or Bath..Or a lovely Karoo town.

I never thought I'd say it but I really don't want to leave Switzerland.

We moved here as a fun adventure/experiment so never looked at it as a long term thing, now I hope we can stay.

I have never felt so settled, safe and happy.

I like the idea of a property in Italy and New York and a little beach house in Sweden though!

I am in Dubai at the moment and although it's glitzy, luxurious and glamorous it all feels a bit fake. And there is no escape from the relentless sun. I think it would drive me mad moving from air con building to air con building. Everything seems so wasteful and over the top.

My newly developed Swiss recycling and moderation sensitivities are horrified by the amount of waste and excess!

I would love to live in CT, USA . We have travelled extensively in the USA and lived in different parts for several months at a time. Love it, both DH & I have tried a few times to get work visas but never got anywhere; now we have a timeshare in the USA which is the best we can do .

Me too Binfullofmaggots, I love Switzerland. Although I am from NZ originally, and love it there too. So now wherever I go I will miss one or the other!

Costa Rica, on the west coast, without children though as homeschooling is really not my thing...

I've found my 'dream place', in Nashville! Great climate, very high standard of living, endless entertainment of all varieties, mountains and beaches within driving distance and some of the friendliest people I've ever met!

Am in Copenhagen and adore it. Would love to try Argentina or Italy for a year too.

The centre of a metropolis.
A beach house in a quiet location.
A country house with a big orchard and a pond.

The means to travel frequently between all three.

Northern BC or Chilean Patagonia.

I would go back to Cyprus at the drop of a hat. Just wish I could afford to (would have to be private schooling and the budget just won't stretch that far). I loved the outdoor living, the people, the freedom, the warmth. Couldn't get my head around the language though - could understand enough to get by, but seriously, a Triangle as a sound? WTF?

I've always liked the sound of Canada, and spent many an hour looking at properties, but I know nothing about the country bar what I saw on Exercise for 3 months in 1995. I loved it then, but I doubt the day to day life is anything like I'd expect!

So many places-France/Canada/England but Cyprus is good at the moment-sunshine.

New Zealand, here now. Love it.

Hawaii. I've never actually been there but I would love to live somewhere warm all year round, near the beach, access to Western food, safe. Would need lots of money though.

I'm also in Copenhagen and love living here. For me, the positives outweigh the negatives and it generally fits pretty well with how I like to live my life.

I would love to live in Buenos Aires for a while. I live in Canada, it's COLD

Paris, in converted 1920s artists studio 10 minutes walk from the musee d'orsay. Did it 10 years ago and loved it. Loved visiting Copenhagen a few years ago and would like to live there too. Depends on my mood though ... Today a small cottage on some tiny island off the west coast of Scotland with lots of books, tea and firewood would do far enough away to not hear the kids arguing
