RENEWAL OF BRITISH PASSPORTS - PARIS

I have a few questions - before we could do this in person and now we have to send forms in - Is there a drop off box at the consulate and can I pay at the consulate or do I have to fill out their visa debit form?

Also - before when renewing I just had to submit old passports and no other paperwork - is this still the case? The blurb on the website and the instructions for the form seem to contradict each other. I'm using the smart form and instructions seem to indicate birth certificates for children plus mine need to be included.

Thanks.

I don't know about the payment and drop off questions, because I live outside Paris and have had to send my renewals there by post.
However, so long as you are renewing passports within 6 months of their expiry, you don't need to send the extra paperwork.
Some of the info on the site looks as though you need to, but you actually don't.
Make sure you are using the right form, it is sometimes confusing to work out which one you need for an overseas renewal.

Im pretty sure you can pay at the consulate, I live in NL and there was an option to pay them but it would've delayed the actual application in Paris.

I applied about 2 months ago for a first passport and had to send original certs, about a 3 week turnaround.

Thanks - I actually caught up with my neighbour who also thinks for renewal I don't need additional paperework. BUT for anybody who is going apparently there is a guy at the door who inspects your forms before accepting them just to make sure you haven't forgotten anything.
