Stupid question no 4,689: candles in containers

So, massive block of tea lights that I'm too mean to ditch - will they melt as our container hits the tropics en route to Singapore? Shall I just pass them on and do an Ikea shop when we get there?

Please ignore this. The more I think about even posting it the more stupid I feel Blush

Ok, I'll ignore it. Although candles melting in the tropics is quite funny Grin

Don't be embarrassed! COntainer packing does strange things to you. Bring them! THey won't melt en route (although before yo u think you're crazy, some of the rubber feet we use on things to protect the furniture did indeed melt in our house here in Perth!!!)

londonmoo · 02/07/2012 11:32

Thanks roary! And yikes to the melting rubber. DH, already over in Singapore, he got the keys yesterday to our newly built condo and says that even after just a few weeks standing empty it already smells faintly musty what with the a/c not having been on. Getting ready for a whole new climate.

All my candles melted and I only live in Melbourne. The ones in a box melted into one solid brick and the ones in candlesticks drooped like a sad penis.

Candles are banned by AQIS in case they contain beeswax. Which could obviously obliterate the entire continent if in the wrong hands... Hmm

londonmoo · 02/07/2012 17:54

OK, I'll check with the shipping company I think... Thanks.

Really, Ravenous?? We brought in a great many, including beeswax ones, in a box helpfully labelled Candles and Napkins and had no problem. And no melting. We had an enormous bumper bag of tealights. AQIS is so inconsistent, though. We left behind all our wicker just in case.

As it turns out our DCs had many, many illegal items stashed away in their pockets and no doubt their contraband stick/flower/random bits of nature collection will lead to the destruction of the country.

londonmoo · 03/07/2012 12:16

Guess I should throw out my DSs beautifully museumed collection of dead things, then: monkey skulls, dead wasps and biting ants. And here I was worrying about a bag old old tea lights.

Yup Roary, that's what we were told.. Ours is under the tender care of AQIS now, and I'm having nightmares about rogue Xmas decs and pine cones although I triple checked.. DS's stick collection was bequeathed to a neighbour, not sure her parents were too chuffed, it took about ten mins to transport..

I already have a sheep one, a rabbit one, and a couple of bird ones!

good luck with the move!

londonmoo · 03/07/2012 15:35

Oooh, Cats, what a lovely lot. We'll just have to start again when in Sing, most stuff was from Malaysia anyway. Aren't the bird ones tiny wee?
