Please can someone explain to me the tax and becoming-an-employer implications of hiring a cleaner in France?

I am interviewing two cleaners tomorrow, both of whom work independently, ie do not come through an agency. I don't have the faintest idea how to employ someone legally in France. Please could some kind person explain my options? Many thanks!

We had a cleaner for a while. We did it through:

www.cesu.urssaf.fr/cesweb/home.jsp

Basically we paid the cleaner her wages and declared the sums paid online. URSSAF calculated the amount of employers charges due and debited it direct from our bank account. They also sent us a statement of how much we had paid (useful for declaring it on the income tax form) and sent the cleaner a pay slip.

Our cleaner already worked for other people so she provided the contract.

The employers charges cover the national insurance, pension, sick pay etc

Sorry just saw you asked about tax. I don't think the situation has changed since we had a cleaner. You get a tax benefit. They want to encourage people to employ others.

thanks so much - that's exactly what I wanted to know.
