Moving to Ireland from the UK at Easter

Hi there, we finally have moving dates and so I have decided to start planning for my part of the move (We have found a house, signed a contract, arranged a school for DD and my DH has the new job all sorted) - it is time for my social life to get sorted!

So can anyone recommend the best or their favourite toddler groups and rhymetimes and storytimes etc? (Because lets face it, this is where my social life will be!).

We will be moving to the Dalkey area in Dublin and from the looks of things there are lots of mums with pre-schoolers around so I am hoping for a lively toddler group scene.

So if you didn't mind helping a newbie establish some kind of contact and routine I would be very grateful. Plus I may even cry as the whole thing is a bit scary and emotional!

There are a fair few people on here living in Ireland so hopefully they will be alongSmile

actiongirl1978 · 20/01/2012 14:31

Thanks Dooby. It's silly - I am really familar with the area as my husband has taken me over so many times, but I am still slightly scared at living in a new place!

Dalkey ? Posh, innit :)

Curtainmyself · 22/01/2012 05:13

Oh how lovely. I used to live very near Killiney, many moons ago and would love to be going back to that beautiful area.

mathanxiety · 22/01/2012 06:28

Dalkey is the most fabulous place on the face of the earth. I am green with Envy X 100.

Don't mind with toddler groups. Just spend your time at Bulloch Harbour and Coliemore Harbour. You might see the dolphins. Plus, there are goats on Dalkey Island.

sunnydelight · 22/01/2012 23:57

Gorgeous place to live (I'm originally a Dub!), good luck with the move.

actiongirl1978 · 24/01/2012 08:01

Thanks for the good luck Sunny! I know its a really nice place to be (assuming the Euro doesn't crumble...) and everyone tells me that people will be really friendly and not restrained and English like I am used to!

Mathanxiety..we saw the harbour when we went to check out our hopefully new house last week - its v lovely though I shall need to wait until ds is not such a lemming as he may well throw himself in to say hello to the seabirds. Can't believe there will be dolphins!

Is there a favourite restaurant in Dalkey? We tried the Magpie for lunch which was v v tasty. Anyone got any other faves?

It's a bit of a stretch of the legs for a toddler, but walking on Killiney Hill is lovely too. Dalkey is full of restaurants, cafes.. I don't think you could go wrong.
