Wow,have just gone to post and it wouldn't except it! So have had to start a new thread. Hope everyone finds it ok.I feel a bit like we've all been out for the night and somehow got seperated and no one has their mobile!!Grin
Anyway, this was the question I've had to cut and paste from the old thread:...

Sorry, have had a quick look but can't see...has anyone used emirates?
I think the sky couch thing looks good, but we'd have to buy a couple and that would be pricey.
Dh reckons Emirates are fine, but I don't think he's anticipating how different it's going to be travelling that disatnce with 3 exhausted infants.
He has limited travel experience as it is and the longest he has been on a plane with them is 3 hours. He keeps saying it will be fine, they'll sleep for loads of it...somehow I'm thinking this will not happen!!

Did you mean to write DH1 Sibble? How many have you got then? Grin

Whittaker peanut slab - agree. Yuk. They do nice dark chocolate though.

thelittlestkiwi · 23/03/2012 04:41

I think Sibble must have her eye on SBW ;-)

Lolly- how did today's viewing go?

We've had a stressful day at Starship- they are not terribly organised and hadn't booked a test she needed in before her appointment with the Dr. But he called me this afternoon to say the operation worked better than expected to date. They need to re test in three months though.

WhatSheSaid · 23/03/2012 06:14

I didn't know you could get Penguins in Pak n Save - I normally do online shopping at Countdown so don't get to P n S much.

Countdown do have choc Hobnobs - but I hardly ever buy chocolate biscuits. I quite like Tim Tams but never seem to buy them. Countdown have very nice own brand (Select I think) choc chip cookies - they come in a rectangular cardboard box and are very choc-chippy.

littlest glad your dd's operation has been so successful so far.

AngryBeaver · 23/03/2012 18:43

How about the bag of choc chip cookies from the warehouse? They're nice. they also do wafer biscuits for about a $1 (vanilla and choc) that the kids like

Good luck with the house lolly.

lollystix · 26/03/2012 03:48

We're one of 2 applicants apparently. Went to the local school today and they said Ds1 could start Thursday if we get it. Think I'll cry if we don't.

vvviola · 26/03/2012 04:06

Oh, fingers crossed Lolly!!

We've had yet another positive experience of NZ. DD2 was referred to get an X-ray of her hips. We were in and out of radiology at North Shore Hospital in less than 30 minutes. We were so quick we didn't even have to pay for parking Grin. Results within a week apparently. Hugely impressed with the system so far. Grin

lollystix · 26/03/2012 06:14

We got itGrinGrinGrinGrin

Sibble · 26/03/2012 06:15

Congrats. When do you move in?

thelittlestkiwi · 26/03/2012 06:35

Congratulations! Well done.

WhatSheSaid · 26/03/2012 07:22

Fabulous lolly

lollystix · 26/03/2012 08:34

15th April. Here in the bach till the 13th so back to a motel for a couple of nights. It's down a drive though so god knows how our container is going to get down there as they sent a 40ft one. I suppose it could be held up so long at the ports though with the strikes it may not matter anyway. I feel so relieved that it's sorted.

Yep, I can testify that if removals people could manage justabout's drive they can manage anything Grin

That's great that you got the place lolly! Must be a huge weight off your mind!

lollystix · 27/03/2012 04:46

Ok - I need to buy a washing machine and have someone install it as I haven't a clue. Given comet and currys don't exist here where do I start? Need a big one.

WhatSheSaid · 27/03/2012 05:00

Harvey Norman, Bond and Bond, Dick Smiths and Farmers are the first names coming to mind re washing machines. The Good Guys are meant to be very competitive but I'm not sure how many stores they have, they are fairly new to NZ.

One of these stores is bound to be having a sale on now or soon so shop around a bit (you can check out the Salefinder website if you want to find out online who is having a sale)

The majority of washing machines are toploaders but you can get frontloaders too.

thelittlestkiwi · 27/03/2012 08:14

I use priceme.co.nz to get an idea. Also the Herald will have ads, particularly at the weekend.

They should install it, although you can look on youtube as it is very easy.

Always ask for a discount.

I've just been for an evening walk on St H beach. I feel very lucky to be here.

Sibble · 27/03/2012 08:21

Farmers have a sale on this Thursday (in fact I think they have a sale on every Thursday!) but I think 'whiteware' has 30-50% off this week?

Bobbish · 27/03/2012 10:43

Congrats on the house Lolly!

Don't forget to negotiate hard over the price of the washing machine - the sales people in these big stores always have room to move - we got $100 and free delivery/install off our new dishwasher last year.

AngryBeaver · 31/03/2012 09:32

Congrats on the win, here's to good times Smile How are you liking the weather now??
Bad luck for me,mum has to go home as Gran has had a heart attack Sad
Absoloutely gutted. Apart from all the feelings for my Gran,it will be so hard to say goodbye to Mum all over again...

OP posts:
lollystix · 31/03/2012 10:33

Oh god AB - is gran going to be OK? What a crap situation all round. I'm so sorry for you...

AngryBeaver · 31/03/2012 20:24

I am not sure lolly. Mums friend rang last night and told us that last week, the consulatant had actually pronounced her dead...and then Gran spluttered back to life! People had started crying, hugging her etc...so you can imagine how weird that was. So they thought there was no chance for her survival a week ago,but yesterday she was released from hoz into the care of a nursing home. Apparantly she was sitting in an armchair in the lounge! But,Mum can't stay. The guilt is too much and overshadowing the visit. I am dreading Tuesday. Feel a bit of an emotional wreck at the moment, poor dh geting the brunt of it Sad

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 31/03/2012 21:13

Sorry to hear about your gran AB. We just had a similar situation - dh's mum and stepfather were visiting us and her mum (dh's gran) had been ill for a while. She died while they were out here - she was 96 and it was expected but it's still hard for everyone especially when they didn't know whether to stay here a bit longer or go back.
