I hate it!!!

Can anybody explain why roads here are suddenly closed and no diversion signposted? I had a good 30 minute drive to the nearest motorway this morning only to find the road was shut 200 foot from the entrance to the motorway. There ISN´T any other easy way to get where I was going with an A road but I figured I could go the other direction up the motorway and turn back at the next junction. What happens? The next exit off the motorway is closed and I have to drive miles in the wrong direction before I can come off the motorway. Then give up and go home, having spend a long time and lots of petrol driving in rush hour traffic.

I´m fed up. This can´t only happen to me. A few weeks ago the MOTORWAY here was barriered shut with no prior warning, NO sign that you just might like to exit the motorway beforehand rather than spend the afternoon in a stationary traffic.

How hard is it to put up diversion signs?

:) at dd's repertoire of rude words Porto! My dd said she was going to introduce a swear box into the house Blush which I said was fine but that swearing in the car didn't count. Fortunately she agreed to this Grin.

What the feck do you think you are doing, you fecking twunt....is one of my milder comments...

Longtime · 25/03/2011 00:19

That is mild. Mine is usually "you fing wer", "you complete t*err", "what the f**k do you think you're doing?". Blush Grin. I would NEVER have said such things in front of the DSs when they were her age though. DS1 is a bad, bad influence.

Portofino - I wasn't having a go. But ime, if I were to ask an expat if the rule were applicable on "this bit of road" they wouldn't have a clue.

Because you never know what language someone speaks in Brussels, I always recommend hearty and enthusiastic hand signals. Grin
