Oz Gold Coast: which theme park/s?

Taking DSs, 9 and 11. So both a bit young for real white knuckle, and neither are very boy-boy so 15m drops over water slides? Confused.

Choices are:

Dreamworld
WhiteWaterWorld
Sea World
Warner Bros
Wet'n'Wild

I think Dreamworld will be too full-on (and believe me, I won't be taking part in any of the Big 6 thrill rides! Been there/done that/am 48!

Sea World: will perhaps already have seen what's there at Singapore Zoo and Sydney Aquarium

Warner Bros: have they seen enough 'trad' cartoons?

So perhaps the choice is between WhiteWaterWorld and Wet'n'Wild?

What do you think?!

they would love Dreamworld and you could get a world pass which means you can go to whitewaterworld and dream world

We are off to dreamworld in ten days time.

I did whitewater world and Dreamworld with my boys who would have been younger but I would take them back now when oldest is 11. I have just asked them and he's said YEEEEEESSSSS. You can buy multi day passes so we went for 2 consecutive days and it was cheaper.

I havn't been to Seaworld as the weather was rubbish but I've heard such good things that I wouldn't discount it if you are able to do more than one theme park.

Actually ds1 would have been 9 when we went and he just said 'it's the best'!

Seaworld went down well with dd1 (7) & dd2 (2). Good rides, good selection of food (burgers etc, but also rolls, wraps etc). Not to over priced on the souvenirs!

Movie world, was, in my opinion a waste of time & money! (We won the holiday & worked the cost of the parks into the package, so thankfully we didn't have to pay) There was little we could do there, about 7 rides for the girls, but 3 were closed. Infact, I'd say that my 7yr was bored here.

No food other than burgers, and burger & chips for an adult, almost $20! You aren't allowed to take your own food in (unless special dietary issues - we saw one guy get told to take his esky back to the car!)

The typical characters walking around for photos, but you can take your own, so don't have to buy theirs, that's the same for SW too.

I wish we had chosen dream world, tbh!

In fact, we went to Seaworld twice (we paid for dd to have a Dolphin experience) and only just fitted everything in. It was awesome, I loved it too. A good full day with stuff that you can do over & over. Huge adventure playground, water park etc. It's not to miss, tbh. And when we go back, I think we would deff do it again!

The monorail is great too, if you get tired, just hop on, we went around a few times!

Thanks:

A 'Q' about Dreamworld- do/can younger children actually go on the Big 6 thrill rides? I'd've thought there would be height restrictions etc? I know I 'did' such parks when I was in my early 20s!- (Magic Mountain) and I would have thought the sort of ride that drops you in free fall through 38 storeys would be wa-a-y too much for a not very 'boy' DS of 9!

OR are there heaps of less full-on rides they could do? More 'age appropriate'?

eidsvold- please report back when you get home! Where are you staying? We have to book accommodation very soon for Easter!

Seaworld & Movie world had kids rides. Dd went on a 'big ride' with dh at MW, and he hated it she LOVED it! Indoor (dark) roller-coaster!

But they mainly stuck to the smaller ones. Although dd sis love the log flume, went on it lots!

differentnameforthis · 15/02/2011 09:52

We stayed here

Was fab! Close to surfers, short drive from SW, MW.

Several pools, kids club. Activities. Selection of rooms.
