Can anyone living in Paris advise if this is a good short break location?

Not a living abroad query, so please excuse me, but could anyone living in Paris advise on whether this apartment would be a good choice for a four-day break in the Spring for me and two teenage girls? (There is a map at the bottom of the linked page)

An apartment might give us a bit more space than an hotel and it looks convenient.

My main concern, as we will be three females, is that it is relatively safe, especially in the evenings when we would want to go out to eat.

Many apartments don't take bookings of fewer than 5 days.

We plan to see some of the sights (Louvre, Montmartre) as well as shopping and having a day at Disneyland.

Or, any other suggestions? Many thanks.

The area is fine, I'd go nearer Bastille though as it's a bit more central and defo happening in the evening. But otherwise this is perfectly fine. Paris is rather safe these days.

Thanks Elsie - I haven't had much luck finding anywhere else with the right dates that will take a three-night booking, but will keep looking for a while.

The owner of the apartment I've linked to seems very helpful so I'm swayed by that, but the girls would probably appreciate a bit more going on around them.

Well, Bastille and St Paul le Marais is really not that far away and could actually be quite a bit more expensive.
Have you looked into a hotel? I am just saying because it could be cheaper and, yes you'll have less space but how long are you planning to stay indoors? If you are planning to go out for meal every night, I'd look into it....

Haven't looked at hotels yet, but quite like the flexibility of an apartment because our flight arrives very early on the first day and leaves in the evening on the final one - the owner of this particular apartment is happy to let us have access when we arrive and up until we actually leave, whereas a hotel is unlikely to do that.

Fair enough. Enjoy!

The area is safe yes and not far from lots of lively areas - bastille, marais, oberkampf - the last 2 are about 15 mins walk. The immediate area isn't that exciting but it's not dead either. I'd say go for it.

Thanks - have emailed to check that it is non-smoking - the website doesn't say.

Any advice on good areas to take the girls for shopping/window shopping? Dd is a clothes-a-holic but in reality won't be able to afford to buy much.

We'd like to at least look at some posh shops, in the hope that the assistants don't treat us as merde on the bottom of their Louboutins, and also go somewhere more realistic where the three of us can browse and possibly buy clothes.

Go to Le Bon Marché department store, and perhaps also to Le Printemps (more tiring). You will be able to browse über designer brands as well as more normal things to your heart's content!

The area is fine- nothing exciting, but a short walk from Bastille and Republique (big metro station). In fact my dcs' paediatrician is located next to metro Voltaire.

It's safe, but obv. it always makes sense to take sensible precautions if coming back home very late at night. Otoh my friend got punched in the face by a stranger on Champs Elysees, so there are no rules.

What Bonsoir says re dept stores plus Galeries Lafayette. Marais for smaller, quirky shops plus some mid range designers and cafes.

Thanks all, I think I'll probably go ahead and book it as it seems the best-value option for a decent standard of accommodation - tripadvisor has put me off lots of the budget hotels!

And thanks for the shopping tips, it'll be great fun with the two girls and no dh cramping our style.
