Hi everyone, I suffer with constipation where I don't go without a stimulant laxative (like dulcolax) which I have to take mid week and weekend, basically every 3 or so days which massively disrupts life, I have been prescribed this and just waiting to receive it. Can anyone with constipation let me know their experiences on it please, especially if working full time! But all welcome of course
Thank you

My colorectal surgeon who suggested it said to take it in the evening.
I take it around 6pm with a meal and it generally works by morning. No worries about daytime issues in work.

Hi, do you take it every night? If so do you have any side effects including pain? Thank you :)

I used this for 2 years before having my son and it literally changed my life!
I got to the point where I was self irrigating and using multiple laxatives which had no effect.
I used to take mine before bed and would feel the urge to open bowels the following morning.
Thankfully I do not require them any longer, pregnancy literally worked wonders for resetting my digestive system in the end.

I'm so glad things are better for you! I've heard so many mixed reviews about them, I know for a fact I'll get a headache as I suffer from migraines anyway but I'd just have to take painkillers. Do you have any pains? Also my pelvic floor nurse wants me to irrigate every day for a while with a new system she's going to give me, I'm just being a wimp but I hate the thought of pumping loads of water into my intestine each night or morning haha. Also people have said that they gained weight through prucalopride? But this can be the case with all drugs!

Yes @hberry every night. I struggle if I miss a dose. I don’t suffer side effects, I maybe had a bit of bloating and discomfort, rather than pain, in the first four/five days after starting it.

That's great! How many mg are you on a night? Glad it's worked for you

I remember having headaches at first but the positives for me out weighed the negatives.
The instant relief of being able to go, my bloating reduced significantly and I lost weight too.
Prior to taking them my longest time with no bowel movements was 18 days, enemas, suppositories, laxatives - tablets or liquid you name it just didn't work for me.
Even bowl prep for a scope failed to clear me out.
The self irrigation I found soul breaking. It took over an hour every morning and my bowel would retain the fluid for ages but then I would just pass the water, it gave me horrendous stomach pains and I felt weak all the time.

I completely feel your pain, the prep they gave me for the sigmoidoscopy didn't work, they did an enema didn't work and I told them it didn't! When they went up with the camera I was impacted and the surgeon used this special hose attached to the camera and it was absolutely terrible, I shouted out in pain when I usually try to remain stoic with doctors! And told them I needed to go to the loo asap due to the pain I was completely embarrassed! I'm so glad it's worked out for you

Hi! How's you? I've just started the medication today and so far it's worked but I'm having stomach cramps and pains, I'm hoping this doesn't last if I'm taking it everyday! How long did this last for you? X

Evening, I'm glad your giving them ago!
I always took my tablet in the evening after tea with a big glass of water. I felt what I would say was bowel cramps as things got moving for the first couple of days ( in hindsight, I was so backed up it was always going to be uncomfortable the first couple of days) the urge to go to the toilet was a new sensation at first as I had not experienced it for so long.

Eventually as your body gets back in to a pattern you will be able to reduce the usage to suit your needs. Ie - its totally normal.for some people not to open bowels daily. But let your body adjust and get used to the demands once again.
Keep and eye in symptoms, fingers crossed for you x
