Does anyone know if sinemet and madopar can be prescribed together or is it usually one or the other?

I thought they were the same medication?

It would be odd to be prescribed both as named medications but if you had a generic prescription for Levodopa you could have been supplied with either? Or could be switched from one to the other?

Sinemet contains levodopa and carbidopa. Madopar contains levodopa and benserazide. A family member has been prescribed both but with them both having levodopa in them I'm a little worried its been prescribed incorrectly.

You normally only get prescribed one. They normally prescribe one see if it works if it does you stick with that one. If you get side effects, then you go onto the other. I wouldn’t be happy being prescribed both. I’ve had Parkinson’s for 16 years since I was 36 happy to help if you’ve got any other questions.
