HRT and breast cancer

I’m 40, been on HRT (eastrogel & progesterone tabs) for 6 months. Gradually upped estrogen to 4 pumps p/d and I’m coping/moods levelling out/sleeping through etc.
I had my first (routine) mammogram 3 days ago. Got a call yesterday to say there was a ‘palpable lump’ on right breast, the radiographer said at end of appointment that I should expect to get a call - she’d noticed lump/s. (BTW I honestly can’t tell a thing in the shower but aching boob/lymph area.)
Doctor referred me today to breast clinic for ultrasound and biopsy if required. My appointment is in 19 days…doctor has recommended I come off HRT in meantime. Is this a good idea? Will this not throw my wondering brain into meltdown? I’m hoping the odds of lump being benign are high and I can go about my business after getting the all clear!? Should I really add HRT withdrawal into the mix?

As somebody who had breast cancer whilst on hrt, please stop taking it. If your lump is cancerous and it is estrogen positive you are feeding the cancer. Also they will do blood tests so they need a base line ,which will be wrong if you are still putting hormones in your body. Good luck with your journey but pls listen & do what the med professionals advice.

Thanks guinnysmum, I totally hear you, thank you for the advice. I've stopped as of this morning. One silver lining is I can hope my periods have stopped while on it!😁
